Im having issues starting my 2004 lx470, I think I need a new battery, at least im hoping for that. Can anyone recommend a battery for me? I live in North Dakota and it gets pretty cold up here. Also there is no lexus close by for me to go to and simply purchase a lexus battery. There is a autozone and napa etc.

One possible option:

For batteries I tend to shop for ease of replacement in case of battery problems. I go for Costco because it is close to me, but I suspect Sam's club, and other large retailers might be similar. I like Costco in part because they don't test the battery and give their own opinion if it needs replacement. (I have always already tested it in several ways and have reluctantly decided it needs to go, I appreciate not being second guessed.)

I got a Bosch 27F last year at the same time I replaced the alternator brushes. I think it was $110 or so, and came with a 3-year replacement guarantee (and something like a 90 month prorated). That was good enough to convince me.

I use 24F-AGM Duralast Platinum battery with a 3 yr warranty from Autozone. I change batteries every 2 to 3 years or any sign of battery weakness when starting.

When it's time for my 100, I bookmarked Sams Club Duracell H8 AGM and Napa Legend H8 AGM like others here h ave done. Sams Club is $149 when it's on sale and the Napa is like $168 when it's on sale. Both keep stock of the H8 AGM so warranty exchange should be easy if needed.

I have 24F installed and it is Walmart Maxlife battery. Those easily lasts 5 years. Check the manufacutrer. If it is S. C. Johnson control, then get it.

If your gonna go with a normal battery, check Costco or your Toyota dealer. They are both under $100 and both are a Johnson Control 710 CCA and 165 RC battery in my area. These are the higher model of the two 27F's that Johnson Control manufactures.

Walmart has the 24F AGM for $150 and 5 year replacement warranty if you are in a rural area

group 49 h8 agm, a bit smaller then a 31 and bigger then our stock 27

drops right in and can use existing hold down..

got it from sams for about 200 otd if i remember correctly

H8 AGM group 49 also at walmart for $150 and 5 year free replacement warranty

Do you happen to know the reserve capacity on that Walmart AGM H8? I can't seem to find it listed on the website and the only stock is a little bit of a drive for me.

Edit: According to the blurry pic it looks like 160 minutes and 95AH. Pretty good battery for $150 and 5 year replacement. I think I'll get it over the X2 at $350.

One more vote for the X2 Power AGM in 27F size, $360 at Batteries Plus, so expensive. Toyota brand
batteries do not come in 27F, which is the proper size for the 100.

Welp, I should have done some more reading. As most of you probably know the H8 isn't a drop in fit. I thought I would need a shim for the hold down, but I didn't anticipate the plastic tray being too small as well. For now I just removed the tray and set it on the metal, and I'm using a piece of wood as a shim.

I'll go looking up threads to see other people's solutions. Slee tray I imagine. But if you happen to have another suggestion I'm open to ideas.

Anyone know if the hold down for the Slee tray works with H8 size or if I'll still need a shim of some sort?

Hmm, from the specs on the Slee tray it looks like the H8 is too long to fit. Being sealed I may just put down some adhesive backed rubber mat and forego the tray altogether. Thoughts?

Thoughts?
A group 24F, group 27F, or group 31 (w/ slee kit) makes life easier, although they can be potentially more expensive...

Other sizes can be made to fit, but why bother?
