Finally, I received my sliders. Now, after cleaning and lubing the tracks with WD-40, I really could use some help on how to install them. I know professional installation is an option; I've already stopped at a very reputable glass shop, but the owner himself was a bit miffed about the installation as he thought the sliders would only be held by urethane and not actually have a physical connection, unlike the OEM U.S. flat glass. Any guidance will be appreciated. Thanks.:)

Urethane is a VERY physical connection: it cures to be like tire rubber. They originally were held in with butyl tape (5/16" round). If you had them installed properly with urethane you would NEVER be able to get them out yourself, unlike the butyl.

I'm dragging my feet on installing mine 'cause I can't find the lifetime supply of vinyl treatment I have somewhere to use on the latch handles so they look new. New channel run, new tint, & powder painted frames are crying out for installation!

Haven't figured out the interior trim, though. Spook50 suggested something out of McMaster-Carr, but I'm waiting for him to email me the link. Too lazy to check myself, plus I want him to do his 1st so I can check it out.

Where are you located?

Thanks for the quick feedback! I guess what I meant was an interlocking physical connection. In the interim, I've found some info in one of the OEM manuals that I ordered years ago. Sure enough, butyl rubber was the stuff and there is even a part number for what appears to be a Toyota installation kit. What gives me concern, here on Long Island in New York, is the order for removing the OEM windows. The manual suggests that you remove the outer gaskets. It says nothing about the inner trim. Maybe we can find our way through this together. Thanks. N.M.

NM- I have a set that I'll eventually be installing in MY 60... after I install the NEW OEM quarter panels I have sitting here... so: keep me in the loop and/or I'll let you know how it works out later this summer...
Mark (on Long Island too)
