3-how do i remove it? removed a snap ring on the front, but nothing else wants to budge

any/all help greatly appreciated

march 1970 fj40, second owner, not much history from PO

No name...

I have memories of those on older (70s) non US drum brake trucks.....

that is, as I was throwing them into the junk pile......

time to move on up........

in need of a name or producer, something to google and hopefully figure out how to remove without a sawzall
got another question, the front hubs are large, so large that the rear wheels won't fit on the front axle, seems like front wheels have enlarged centers, seems unusual for a 40 or any vehicle for that matter.

You have course spline birfs(as in the pic above) and disc?

often, the only difference is the inner gear pictured in the first pic and they will be swapped out by the manufacturer to fine spline for later model cruisers. like the oddball dual o matics. the basic hub is the same, but the internal gear is fine spline instead.

the hub looks like the ones that were sold at montgomery wards. i want to say husky, but i'm pretty sure that wasn't it.

got it off with some elbow grease, thanks for the replies, after the first snap ring is removed (not in picture, was already taken off), the whole plastic/ metal hub comes off as one piece, vacuum from the grease made it feel like it was stuck. currently in the process of upgrading to fine spline and disc knuckle from 82 fj40 thanks to everyone on this site

trollhole- it seemed to be in good shape, for who knows how old it is, but it is being replaced with stock aisin

blue- the hawaiian name is "nohu", scorpion fish I think, speared it in 40 feet of water and when we unloaded it from the cooler it had another fish (orange spot tang- pakukui) in its mouth. Makes very good soup.

Same here. And I'm assuming the plastic is just being used to hold the inner ring in line. It really serves no function as far as strength to lock the hub.

But it amazes me anyone would design a hub with plastic parts in it.

Warn made preminm hubs with brass turn knobs and economy hubs with plastic knob. You'd think the Warn name would be on the plastic knob if it were the old Warn econs?????

could've been warn, the plastic on the selector was worn away and illegible if there was a trade name there to begin with. unsure if warn made hubs with plastic innards tho? does anyone know why the front hubs are larger than the rear? I know, there's no hub on my rears, but why the difference in size on my wheel openings?

cutlass is the hub i'm thinking of. originally, they were a pin style like dualmatics, but later on had a small dial in the top like the pics posted.
