Out of nowhere the rig is lagging and dying if I give it much gas. If I stop for a while and start again the rig gets up to speed fine, albeit very weakly, but if I have to give it any more gas for a hill or anything, I'm back to fluttering until I'm going 5 mph again. Its hot today. Any helps appreciated.

Doing that as soon as I get home, I'm 140 miles away, cruisers been running great now this. All vacuum lines seem to be connected, all electrical is well connected. Guess now I'll just let it cool down and hope that helps.

Fuel pump strainer/sock and fuel filter. My guess is the strainer/sock on the fuel pump.

Got home, and after searching a bit, I found that it sounded like a bad water temp sensor since the symptoms started when I pulled into 90 deg heat after 4+ hours of driving and having to slow down to paint drying speed in the desert. Luckily after letting the rig cool for an hour and a half I was able to drive the 140 miles back.

I bought an extra engine and tranny a while back so I pulled its water temp sensor to swap, when I unplugged mine I found it was literally corroded in half (see the pic) can't believe this beast ran at all!

Now the rig seems to run slightly better, downshifts a bit less actually, or maybe I'm crazy.

When it's in park though the idle will start at 1k rpm and slowly lower to 750 but jump back up to 1k and repeat seemingly forever. Any ideas why?
