Does anybody have an alternator for a '94 cruiser? Does anyone have any lines on a deal? Need help, local parts stores very expensive. Or . . .

Has anyone had any luck with a rebuild? I can do the work but I need help finding a rebuild kit. Advice on bearing repair would be great.

Thanks

... you can also replace or repack the existing bearings. A small puller will help, but not required... and some punches will get you most of the way. Be careful while pulling the rear bearing, the commutator is easy to damage.

slap in a brush set, like $13.00. You can get them from CDan or in an emergency go with you local dealer.

The brushings were removed and when spinning the pulley horizontal not much noise but when it was spinned with the alternator vertical (installed position) their was a soft clicking noise. It seems like something is catching inside on every turn.

read past threads about mean green "high output" alternators, someone did some testing and was not impressed, not sure about other high output alternators,

I read on here someone tested a mean green and it was actually putting out less current than the stock alternator.

I was able to find a rebuild one at a local parts store for $160 today.

Thanks for the help.
