I have a 2004 Limited with transmission issues. Slams into 1st when decelerating. I have a number of Solenoid warnings and a CEL and an Automatic transmission is magic as far as I'm concerned and do not want to tackle it myself (especially on a gravel driveway). Are there any shops that are trustworthy in the area around Quantico/Stafford Virginia that I can take it to and not get rreamed in the process? Looking at yelp etc., there are a number with decent reviews.. but then you look at another rating site and not so much.
Looking for someone who has had to take their 4runner/LC in and has come away somewhat happy (happy with the work, maybe not happy they needed it done).
I'm ready to drop some cash but, not for shoddy work... and would like to have a shop run diagnostics to make sure what it needs versus selling me a rebuild/reman (one shop did this as they sid they wouldn't work on it) other than to replace it. Hell,.. I'd take a replacement if it ran $2k or so and was warranteed. This shop was talking $3-4k or more. At that point,.. it get's sold and the money goes towards another LC

Thanks a ton in advance. Been a tlca member for about 25 years or so and joined this site shortly after it began... just been out of the loop since some massive health issues and can't do a lot of work under the 4runner in the gravel any more. accidents and aging do NOT go well together.
