Then again I guess a ladder could be used to attach different accessories as well like some have done with the rotopax products. Any other suggestions for swing out attachments?

^^ This. You can view the ladder as roof access or a large attachment point. :princess: likes the roof to get some sun and this will eliminate the climb through the sunroof maneuver.

I sent Mike a list of almost everything I want for my bumper. Sounds like he is starting on them very soon... Still not sure what if anything I want to add to the second swing out. Anyone done a cooler basket from BIO? If so what size cooler and please post a picture. I have a collection of white marine coolers in all sizes and was thinking a cooler basket might be a good option. Mike's new dual can carrier can also hold a cooler. I don't know what the finished size is, but he suggests that you don't go any bigger so that you don't block the DS tail lights. You could fit a decent sized cooler in there, but not a "standard" size cooler.
I'm sure Mike will make you a basket that fits a standard cooler, but it will definately block your tail light.

I ended up going w/ the rotopax carrier on the ladder.

He sent me the attached pics of the dual can carrier.

Hopefully Mike can provide info on that buggy that is in the background;)

I would really like to see pics of your bumper with the RotoPax setup whenever you get it installed. That's exactly what I'm going to do (eventually)...

I'll definately post up some pics when I get it installed.

You'll have to wait until after he finishes the skids too, as he is shipping them out together.

I like the pics of the dual can carrier basket above. With no divider between the cans I could drop a small marine cooler in there when needed. I get alot more use out of my smaller coolers anyway. Perfect for a beach day or short boat trip.

Anyone know if you can still fold the tailgate down if nothing is mounted on one swingout and it's still locked in place? Like only swing out the tire carrier to open up the back of the truck. I am in and out of the back of my 100 all the time. Dealing with swingouts all the time might get old quick for me...

Me too, and as far as I know, you cannot drop the tailgate without openning the "empty" swingout. I would like to know for sure though. If not, I'm going to get an extra spindle cover so that I can take off the one arm while its not needed.

Sent from my Thunderbonner using IH8MUD

After looking at all the pictures I could find I also was guessing you could NOT drop the tailgate with the arm still locked in place. Anyways... I figured now is the time to order both swingouts even if I don't put anything on one of them right away... I also thought the high clearance design might look funny with only one swingout so i ordered both. I've never seen pictures of anyone with the high clearance design with no swingouts. I considered a bumper with no swing outs but I really needed a tire carrier because I can't fit a 35" spare in the stock location. Oh well... I will just have to get used to opening the swingouts everytime I need stuff out of the back I guess... I'm mostly looking forward to all the stock crap coming off the back end of the hundy... No more hitch or bumper dragging on the trails now hopefully or alot less anyway...

Off hand, anyone know how big of a cooler can fit in the carrier?

I will post up the dims of my basket later today to see if your cooler fits

I was admiring my new bolt on bumper today and realized something. If I had to do it over again I would paint black/rhino line the body panels that the stock bumper used to cover.
There are a few small corners, especially around the tailgate, that I think would look cleaner. My truck is white though, so it stands out more. Just some food for thought..

Do the other manufacturers bumpers cover those area or is this an issue across the board?

You only have one swingout with the tire carrier correct? If you had the second swing arm installed would this cover the area you are referring to? I ordered both swingouts for this reason. I thought just one might look kinda funny on the high clearance design since its a more low profile look.

For reference my smallest Igloo Marine cooler is about 20" wide, 11" deep and 13 1/2" tall...

I couldn't tell you, this is the only aftermarket rear bumper I've seen on a Cruiser.

Yes I only got the tire carrier. I don't really need the extras, but I think the left swing arm would help block that view of the tailgate corner.

I'm not saying it's an eyesore by any means, just that I wish it was black behind there. (that's what she said)

jgray, if you got a basket to fit 3 jerry cans, your cooler would fit. It might cover the inside light, but the outside would be visible

Update on the high clearance bumpers. Called Mike earlier and he said that he is expecting the bent metal back by mid-week. Which means he will begin building the carriers this week as well.

You get used to opening both sides to lower the tail gate. You also want to explain this to others as the first time they drop your tail gate down you will get a dent if the second it not opened ! another one having to open both to open the back top hatch is a pain so I only run my ladder when I think I might need it. Just bolt on and go. Looking forward to seeing all the bumpers mounted.
