So my 2001 LX needs a new battery. I went to Costco today and discovered that they do not carry the stock size/fitment. Do you know if Costco carries other sizes that will still fit and provide stock or better performance?

If not Costco, can you recommend where to buy and which battery you prefer? Thanks for the input.

In my jeep I have always used the autozone gold top. Because if I ever have a problem there is a autozone on every corner:)

I recently bought a 27F gold top from Auto zone. It's got a 3 year free replacement warranty and a 2 year prorated warranty after that. For around $120.
Seems like a decent deal.
If you want top of the line or most expensive, you can get the slee kit and fit a die hard PM1 in there.

I ran into the same thing when replacing the LX car batt through costco.

Wound up going to the toyota dealer for a toyota branded factory size unit. For a excellent deal no less as the dealer had a coupon on their website. Just something to look into.

Umm yes,

Sears diehard platinum marine group 31 with slee's group 31 battery tray..

Same as a new Odyssey battery for a bunch less..

Even if you don't need the extra CCA etc.. I would still recommend this battery...

I love mine and would buy it again tomorrow without a second thought...

Soo yea, it doesn't fit the stock location like you asked, but with slee's kit I'd still recommend it over a stock battery...

FYI, when I was at my local Toyota dealer the other day, the parts manager let me know that their batteries are rebranded Interstate. The delivery man puts the labels on them when he drops the off. Could be different at your dealership but that's here at Toyota of Dallas.

I don't know if Interstate will honor the warranty at any of their distributors or not. I would just buy directly from an Interstate distributor, then you have better coverage for a replacement (in terms of number of locations to return it to).

I'm using Die Hard Platinums at the moment (both trucks). The Platinum line is the re-branded Odyssey. I've also used Optima. I'm not getting batteries to last five years like I used to. If anyone is, let me know. The original Panasonic batteries lasted a long time, but these days seems I'm replacing batteries after about three years, whatever it is.

Toyota sells 2 types. A cheaper version and the 84 month warranty battery. Get the 84 month, which is a rebranded interstate battery.

I was able to buy at $69 after club and core charge discounts.

I'm surprised that you couldn't find your battery at Costco. When I was considering buying a battery a couple weeks ago I found the battery in their book for my '99 and then located it on the shelf for $84.99. Considered it but ultimately decided against buying it. Next time I go I'll look up the size. Unless I made a mistake when I looked it up, it's there.

That 31m battery is what I'd like to go with...but our Toyota battery just refuses to show signs of needing replacement.

I am using Odyssey batteries

Generally speaking, an AGM such as the Sears Diehard Platinum (a re-badged Odyssey) or an Odyssey ($$) are good replacements if you do a fair amount of off-road.

A number of Mudders like the Kirkham brand at Costco.

Whatever you buy, maintain it. You will be surprised.

DieHard Platinum or DieHard Platinum Marine.

Costco/Kirkland are Interstate batteries manufactured by Johnson Controls. Good batts, but I'd rather have a deep cycle AGM for use in the boonies.

i haven't looked but is there not a platinum that just fits in the oem spot? I would think there would be. As if someone wanted a better battery but didn't need the slee deal.

The group 34 should be it.. (I think)

I'll let others confirm this..

The group 35 will fit but it is much smaller than the stock 27F. I don't know of a platinum 27F( the size the manufacturer recommends IIRC)
