So guys, looks like the front differential in my new 97 LX has blown the front diff. Here is a link to the current thread in the main forum area.

Tranny Issues

You can check that out if you want to get an idea of whats going on.

I am hear in our clubhouse to get a lead on someone that does quality differential/axle work on these trucks.

I can handle axle and hubs but when it comes to installing gears and repairing that stuff I differ to an expert.

This truck is a 1997 LX450, It is the one I just bought from KS. It is on a Slee 6" lift, 4:88 gears in the rear axle, and evidently parts of 4:88 gears in the front axle :bang:. It has ARB Air lockers front and rear as well.

What I am looking for is someone that is familiar with the ARB setup and a good gearing mechanic.

Any help or leads on this would be greatly appreciated.

Chase over at East Coast Gears has been my go to for all things diff as well. Installed new rings on my d44s and helped with my front arb locker. Also fixed a backlash cockup on a buddies ram.

I am in Charlotte area. More specifically Monroe.

Toyota Techs in Fort Mill are the local "go-to guys" for most Toyota maintenance/repair issues.
I have used Alex at Carolina Truggies (CT Race Worx) in Stallings for gear swaps and such. He is a 'yota guy although he seems to be concentrating on side-by-sides for the most part nowadays.
Les at Custom Performance in Monroe (704) 238-9884 may be able to help you out as well. He's not an off-road guy but he knows diffs and lockers and works on race car stuff a lot.
