Is it possible to defeat the lockout on the Navigation system so that it can be programmed while driving down the road? If so, how is it done? Thanks!

Somebody (Drexx?) put up a post many months ago on how to do something like that, don't recall exactly.
Probably not a good idea, though...

While it would be stupid for the driver to program a destination while moving, I'd like my wife to be able to input information from the passenger seat.

At the very least, it would be great to get rid of the "I Accept" button every time I start the car so that when I drive the map would show instead of the legal disclaimer screen. Any way to do just that?

Just a thought since I am not familiar with how the navigation works in these rigs...This is from my experience installing aftermarket flip out screens...If the parking brake has to be up for you to be able to put in the info or view the maps there is a possible easy fix...There is most likely a ground wire that runs to the parking brake or to the parking brake light...if it runs to the brake itself just ground it to solid metal..if it runs to the light just rewire that wire to run to something with a light constantly on or wire to a toggle switch..this is how most people with aftermarket dvd players and navigation units get to watch DVD's while driving...be forewarned it is illegal and the ticket is big.

IIRC, the lockup on the LC NavSys is speed based, something like it locks above 5 mph?

For nav functions, yes, it is speed based. To me it seems to lock/unlock around 5mph.

For DVD movie functionality, it appears to be based on whether or not you have the e-brake engaged (indicator on dash). It seems possible to just barely engage the lever where the lamp will illuminate and you can watch a movie, but not actually engage the drums, though you have to hold it there as you won't have engaged even the first "click" at that point. Once you get to the first click, you're actually engaging the drums. But never tried it, don't intend to.
