Hi gents, I am having the dreaded 'Navigation system failures/glitches'. This began about 2 weeks ago w/my 2006 LC. I have seen a lot of data/info/suggestions surrounding this issue; ir seems this problem is somewhat prevalent in these LC's...
Mine goes in and out....it seems to work great for anywhere from a few minutes to about an hour, then cuts out, giving the usual displays...exterior unit not connected, a/c not connected, etc....usually if its turned off for a while, everything fires back up, but then goes out again....I've heard it's just a matter of a connection on an electronics board having a break in a specific wire to requiring a complete replacement of the system, upwards to $2,200. I just cannot believ that a system that works fully sometimes can be completely 'shot'....please respond/advise if you're able to, thanks fellas

Have you read all the screen threads , or the nav threads and the screen repair threads or the mfd threads about failures?

TBH Jerry, I have read quite a few of them...one suggested a guy that does the fix for you by just re-soldering one connection on a board...also lots of suggestions on just yanking it and replacing.....and, of course, ones saying the entire thing MUST be replaced....I am NOT a mechanic/electrical genius..I was able to do the AHC accumulator replacement 'singlehandedly because of the comprehensive list provided by a 'Paddy', so its not like I'm afraid to take a whack at it if it's feasible

Being that it's an 06 I think your can rule out the resolder pin 60 thing, but not positive. Mostly the newest 100s have had the best luck replacing the screen. But I'd check all the fuses and clean them, not just look at them. ALL. Then look for messed up wires at the back of the screen, the m5 6 and 7 connectors.

If it still starts you know that the theft ecu is working, lighted or not.
First clean all the fuses.

Ok Jerry, I'll take your advice on the fuses, I haven't looked at them at all...I love my L/C, and want ro keep it as long as possble, till they pry my cold dead hands off the steering wheel...I've pus too much into this baby to trade it in....new globes, new shocks t years ago, new rear section of exhaust system, brand new engine...mine @anomalously blew on the Ohio Turnpike...great fun waiting for that thing to be floated over from Nippon! Brakes n Rotors...and, oh yeah, new headlights(whick made a huge difference in night driving, as well as esthetically, and new "shocks"? For the hood...appreciate the advice man

Oh, as an aside, do you think its worthwhile to take it to Toyota for a diagnostics? Cost is $100 (not a deal breaker for me)....I have zero electonic or diagnostics equipment, and really wouldnt know how to use them anyway...but ai can do maintenance type stuff....and with the proper advice/directions, some work myself

If they find a wire loose it's worth a hundred, otherwise I wouldn't .
A cheapy screen on Ali is 20$
A center assembly from a nav delete guy is 450$ or so.

I have one screen, but only the screen laying around, No promises. The electronically limited folks I know have bought the whole thing and replaced it to fix their issues in the +05 100s.
There's just going to be some expense, and probably more than what it could be.
Get as much education as you have time for from the threads.
It will save you money.

Right on...i've been reading voraciously...lots of stuff 'I' can do/check myself before 'throwing money at it" and hoping it works...haha

Plus, I'm a LC purist...I wan to keep it as original/stock as possible...just dont think I can/will swallow another $2000 plus...been researhing replacement options also

I have a unit, complete minus some buttons I would let go. You can swap your buttons over. When I say complete, it is everything, screen, boards, brackets, everything minus the few buttons. If interested send me a DM.
