I removed my Navigation unit and am prepared to send it in for repair (there are a number of Prius shops which will fix Land Cruiser screens as well.) I got to thinking though having come this far maybe I should just try repairing it myself - I've replaced the screen on a number of laptops and this does not look too dissimilar. I know this is not covered in the manual - they would rather you just buy a new unit for $5300! Does anyone know of a link or walkthrough describing the navigation screen (digitalizer) replacement process for a 100 - my searches here and on youtube have been thus far unsuccessful.

Hi Tovare,

Ended up doing it myself using thread as a guide:

Be careful when ordering replacement screen (digitalizer is correct term for it.) There are two variations of the ribbon cable attached to the digitalizer. This is the one you want:

The one you don't want is below (notice the end plug of the ribbon cable on the bottom screen is further to the left than the one on top. Also notice the tip of the top one is black, the tip of the bottom one is white - not that color makes a difference, but position sure does.)

Apparently Toyota used these screen for lots of vehicles (Prius, Highlander, etc) the key thing is finding one with the ribbon in the right place (top one for 100 model LC's.)

Overall, I would say this repair is less difficult than changing the screen on a laptop, if that is any basis of comparison for you. Also while you are in there, it's a great time to put in a Bluetooth adapter to stream music. I used the Vais SL-3B but many people like the BT45-TOY as well.

@up5799 i just pulled out my navigation on an '02 and went to the three dials and put in my own double din. I've been meaning to list it on eBay but shoot me a PM if you're interested.
