I have a 2004 LC and had the nav. unit replaced at the dealership, I know what everyone is thinking but that's what I did.

Is there a good screen protection film you can apply these days? Like what you use for an iphone?

Thanks

They typically fail from bad solder joints, not from finger streaks. What was the failure and what are you trying to protect? This is the first post I've seen like this so thinking it might be an isolated incident.

Not trying to protect a failure, but the unit I just replaced had a worn out spot on the screen from hitting the I Agree button ten millions times. Just trying not to wear a hole in the lower right of this new screen.

Did you get the remanufactured unit for $900 or the new unit for $5000?

Nav. override? I heard on this thread that there was no way to get past hitting the I agree button. Where do you get a nav. override?

And the answer to the other question is new $4700

I need a reman unit if anyone comes across one! My 03 is spider webbed cause my wife thought it would be a good idea to chuck her phone at it from the back seat :(

Holy poop! If she ain't happy, you ain't happy.

Yeah really!! At the time it was her truck so really wasn't concerned! Now that its my truck it bugs the piss out of me.....

Hate to say it but for that money you coulda bought a refurb navi and a turbo... And you coulda never told her about the turbo and blame the cost on her...

Had mine done with clear bra film when the windows were tinted. Relatively cheap and works great.

That's a really solid suggestion! I think you could order a clear film protector for an ipad mini, nexus 7, etc... and cut it down to fit with like a paper cutter.

The reman unit is made from Denso, I believe it's the same guys that make the new OEM ones. Most dealers have a parts agreement with Denso so you can pick up the part directly from your Dealership. It runs about $750 and costs about $150 to install.

If your dealership doesn't deal with Denso, call American Toyota in Albuquerque. There was a guy there in service that helped me find one. I think his name is Adrian.
