So I was getting transmission flushed TCase service dif service and CV boots regressed and re strapped and I see this part it looks to be made out of fiberglass? Add 5hp for aerodynamics? Other than that I can't see why I need this? It's not like it could protect anything. Besides it's damaged! Question should I re install it or replace it or remove it forever!? Lol thanks! Plastic splash shield p/n 51420-60010. $330.

If it were my truck, I would spend the money on steel skid plates.

Sounds like something I will be doing in the near future! Any recommendations on skid plates?

Thank you!

It should have been attached to a metal piece to help protect the oil pan.

Nah, the only metal on the splash shield is a couple of captured nuts. It's just a fibre reinforced plastic trim piece that might stop a wayward twig or similar.

Was it damaged during the removal process? If not and judging by it's poor condition, I'd say replace it as it's there for a reason. At the very least, it will prevent debris from impacting the oil filter at high speeds. That and who knows what else seeing as how it's got a chunk missing from it. My $0.02.
