Finally had a 22mpg trip. Drove the kids down to jiu Jitsu at 75mph, got 19.9. Drove back at 70, got the 22.2. Also took the roof top tent off this morning since I've got a 1200 mile road trip this weekend for a funeral.

~5000 total mileage

So my sunglasses were rattling a bit in the overhead holder. Found some random sticky felt from an earlier project, cut to the right size and voila! No more rattling.

You'll note that there is already felt on the part of the holder that is on the bottom when it's closed, but the "lip" that they fit into is where the occasional rattle against hard (and surprisingly resonant) plastic occurred.

See...this is the type of thing that scares me going from a 200 to the 300. In the 200, the sunglasses holder is internally lined with a decent rubber that makes it quiet as a mouse once a sunglass is stored there. Now in the 300 we get only a plasticky interior with no internal lining? Couple that with losing the double visors and I almost panic.

It's a non-issue; there is a felt liner.

My particular sunglasses have been completely quiet, even off-road. The interior in the LX is less plastic-y than my 200s.

yeah, not a major issue. There is a partial felt liner, my particular ray bans jingled a bit.

There is no disput that the 200 series is an outstanding vehicle. I'd probably be driving one if a nice, low mileage one cost a reasonable amount of money.

But this one costs $130k. My new, faster, quieter, and more comfortable lx700h with lockers x3, AHC, and real life gas mileage gains of 3-5 mpg costs less.

Got it. You would have to be pretty crazy to buy anything from these guys at RMR. They are clearly cornering the LC market and charging stupid prices. With patience and some grinding you can still find low mile 200s with 30k to 50k miles for decent prices on the $80k to $90k range in case of HEs. I however agree it will still be a 5- to 6-year-old vehicle, out of warranty gas guzzler and those prices are pushing too close to an OT. That is the main reason I am contemplating the trade. That and the 3xlockers flex of course. ;)

$90k!!! That's crazy for a 5 year old vehicle with expected mileage. Again, that's why I bought my original LX600, $89,600 in 2022, just a couple grand more.

Well, these prices are for the HEs, which command a premium because of limited production. Myself in particular would prefer a 200HE low mileage in comparison to a base brand new LX600 back in 2022, because those were first year models and I only buy from third year on, when most kinks should be sorted out. That said, a base 200 with that mileage is more like to be on the $70ks today.

Three more observations:
-this thing is soooooo fast (compared with other Lc's and SUV's). Miles just melt away.
-gas mileage is the trade for fast. My previous Lx600 got better gas mileage, though wasn't nearly as fast.
-the stock AT's have developed a bit of a jet engine roar on the road.

Thanks for your continued observations. Good to know about the tire noise. Unfortunately, one of my biggest disappointments is its lack of quickness, but I knew going into it that it would be slower than prior/current vehicles. What I didn’t expect is how pathetic it sounds. Coming from V8 roar it definitely can’t compete, but it sounds like an anemic 4banger. Overall, it is one smooth and refined ride, which is what I wanted, so happy.

I found that the stock at3s were wearing really fast for me. Maybe it’s my lead foot but there’s no way they would have lasted more than 15-20k. Granted I had around 10 days off-road with them.

Yeah, I totally have a lead foot. 80mph everywhere. What can I say, surgeon personality. Gotta start thinking about next set of tires. In the running on canyonero's 35x11.5 open country AT's, 34 or 35 inch km3's, or going full send and grabbing a set of general tire X3's (had three sets on last rigs, wonderful tires).

You know, I don't mind the lack of the V8. Quiet is fine.

And yes, quickness is relative. But honestly, compared with a 2022 cayenne gts (4.4 sec 0-60) the LX700h OT at 5.5sec 0-60 is not bad, especially as the heavy tank that will take the off road beating. It's no sports car, but it will still move. More Dwane The Rock Johnson, less Bruce Lee.

Update: I was just pondering. Have you really tried to horse your lx700 around in sport+ mode? It's nuts how fast this 6000+ lb vehicle will go. "Lack of quickness" is not the phrase that comes to mind.

I tried it a couple of times and it response very quick. But i haven't really found a situation that I would keep it there.
