Tension in the line is key!
A very slight slope will do the trick - I typically go behind my office and pull the whole cable and respool.
I typically bring some oil & rags to soak the line to keep her pretty.
I've even done it in my driveway w some clever use of the snatch block!
Remove the snap ring and the brake discs from the outside. Some bearings will likely fall out. Then look inside the housing. There is a lock plate that must be lifted up to allow the brake shaft to be pushed out from the inside of the housing. A long, stout screwdriver is all you should need to push it out. Once the brake shaft is out you can remove the lock plate altogether.I am in the process of rebuilding an 8274.
Any advice on getting the main shaft (external brake shaft) out of the housing of bottom half. I cannot get it out, not sure what to do. TIA
