What would cause my drivers rear tire to lost chunks on the tread edge? I've had a four wheel alignment and the tires are fairly new (bought them this January).

Or they spun on a sharp rock. Definite groove there in the plane of rotation. Are those 31s? Can't believe they'd rub.

Yeah, definitely not rubbing. These are baby tires. we are just about to enter windrock park in tennesee and this will be our first real foray into trail riding with the 100 so no rock spinnage yet. It's around the entire tire. Oh well. Must have just spun it on some rough road somewhere along the way when I had it in 2wd mode while front shaft was removed.

I had very similar damage to my BFG AT's. I ran over some debris while avoiding a accident on the interstate. My best guess is it wrapped around the wheel, and dug in. Looks like you may of pick up something as well. Make sure to air down properly while off road. Street pressure and rocks allow for major chunking, and side wall bruising.

Stay safe and enjoy Windrock. If your feeling bold, Trail 22 is one of my favorites. Plenty of fun obstacles with plenty of by passes. Also, head northeast into the Tennessee Wildlife Refugee. It's near 40's trails. You can take gravel roads there, and it's stunningly beautiful.
