My spare tire carrier comes loose.

Several times as I am driving down the road I notice in my side mirrors that my tubular tire carrier keeps coming open. When I close it it does not have a snug closure. I could zip tie it closed but that could be a royal pain anytime I want to open the door.

It should be snug against a rubber bumped mounted on the sill. Do you have the rubber bumper?

Spring's fawked on the handle. Keeps the handle from unlatching, or rotating out away from the body. Go to hardware store, get and install new spring. That oughta do it!

I have the same problem with mine, even after adjusting the rubber bumper, it would come loose occasionally because the hook part is worn.

For now I just put a wire lock pin through the slot so the latch can't come undone. I think it's either a 1/4" or 5/16" pin that fits.

Been there too, you can weld to build up the hook, and grind to meet spec. (pre 79)
