looks like the trailer was meant to be behind the 40

oh yeh, we have had the beetle problem in our area also, sux watching so many trees dieing

I managed to save a few pics of our first campout after the camera melt down. One for color two for a good trailer shot. Thanks for all the kind words, next winter I will build up the kitchen and cargo drawers as well as all the other little things that need to get done on it, but for now, we are really enjoying all the hard work when we get to get out camping.

Thats awesome. Make one for me! ;)

Wow... what else can I say.

Nice

Thanks!

We got a new camera so I am going to go back and fill in a few of the details to get it this far.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! We got rained out last weekend as we wanted to go camping in the RMNP but we had steady rain for 2-3 days and the open top 40 into the high country would have been miz to get there, once there I think we would have been fine.

More to follow.

Drew

Hey Drew,

Great job on the trailer, really like the design i have been following the build for a long time, the finished product looks like it belongs behind the 40. Very well thought out, looking forward to some action shots and pictures of the trailer set up in camp.

Thanks for the great build thread Drew, I'm sure you've inspired many to start there own builds.

Scott

Thanks Scott-

Your trailer build ain't shabby either bro! We are really enjoying it, using it tomorrow in fact, since we have Monday off.

Drew

Well, we got out and about yesterday and today in the RMNP. Nice having a world class park an hour from your house. Unfortunatley, we were the talk of the campsite with several folks asking if we were going to have an "open house."

We let all the folks poke their head in and comment on things, I offered a few of the guys with kerbillion dollar RV's to trade straight up... not takers. ;)

You can see the snow kissed Longs Peak in the background and yesterday we had a heard of nearly 150 elk hanging out grazing in the valley below. Fajitas for dinner and a nice nights sleep. Only issue is the crappy rain fly of the tent decided last night it would let go and flap in the breeze. So at 2am I got out and lashed it down with some bungees... ahh rest after that. We woke up to sun shine, elk bugeling, and bacon and scrambled eggs with left over peppers and onions.... I love being outside! :D

Onto a few pics...

We got one of those Kelty Carport Deluxes when Costco was getting rid of them, my in laws bought it for me and I have to say... it would be worth the full price. Lots of covered space, easy setup take down, and the sides can be pitched down like walls, rolled up like a tarp, and you can set the two ends that are on the ground up on two poles to make a canopy/sun shade.

Great unit, I love it! Covers the entrance, ladder and has enough room for two zero gravity chairs and a small table for when the weather stinks. We had a few hours of rain yesterday and it was great to have the shelter from the storm and not have to be in the tent only. Here is a peak inside.

Can you say redneck? :D I looked like tarpville next to multi-hundy thousand RVs... priceless.

drew that trailer turned out real nice, are you considering it finished or do you have more plans?

Redneck Hell!!! All those RVer's were probadly wishing they were you...light, mobile, and having a blast! That arched tarp is da' bomb, and looks like all space is used effectively. Thanks for the action pix

P.S. I thought you were going to do the "tarp mod" on the RTT?

:clap::beer::clap:

Sooo . . . When are you going to mass production?

Mate just read your whole thread & I must say this is one of the best trailers I've seen.
Real nice work. a credit to you
Cheers
Croozy

thanks Mate!

Started to mod the tent tonight. I am replacing the ladder, adding a functional and quiet in the wind rain fly, adding a "shoe bag" to hang from the tent to keep our shoes in at night and out of the tent, as well as a welcome mat. :D

Stay tuned... pics to follow.

good to see the trailer getting some use, i wish i would have hit that costco buy on the kelty carport

I just had dinner with Rezarf and his wife and saw the trailer. Its absolutely amazing

Our weather is cooling off and work is slowing to a normal pace once again, so you know what that means... more trailer time! :D

Started knocking out the aux electrical system today. First up was to instal the 120v outlet for what is called "Shore Power" in the boat world. It is a fancy term for the outlet where you are going to plug your battery charger in. I am using a nice unit from Marinco, that is fully waterproof and it will connect to my 2 bank battery charger.

But I am getting ahead of myself, today I worked on making my fuse/switch panel for the trailer. I bought a really nice 6 switch set on Ebay for about 1/5 of the new price. The unit is water resistant (I am mounting it differently though) with 6 lit contura rocker switches and front access fuses. It is all prewired and ready to drop in. I must say Blue Sea is the way to go for 12v electrical in your cruiser as well.

Here is the unit out of the package... Blue Sea model #8053
