My Poor Cruiser Cant Get a Break.... (1 Viewer)

First off, the Tacoma got broke into a month ago while sitting in my driveway, and now this.

I was at work, and a friend sends me a text saying "why are there cops outside your house?"

Turns out a 2006 Range Rover 1. came down my street (who knows how fast) and made the turn too wide 2. overcorrected across the street and up the sidewalk. 3. into a park honda. 4. smashed the honda and went back across the street. 5. up my lawn, and finally into the side of the 80.

It impacted the honda destroying it and still had enough speed to take out the 80. From the skid marks and amount of force it looks like the car was still accelerating when it hit both vehicles.

The 80 has two busted up passenger doors, but they both still open and close without any effort. The B and C pillars have some small paint wrinkles to show damage, I just hope that isnt the final say on whether they total my poor truck. It appears that my slider helped save the truck, and so far the frame looks fine too. There was a small tree on the driver side of my truck, and thankfully the step on my sliders took out the tree before it took out my door.

Keep your fingers crossed for me....

In the top photos, you can see where the Honda was by the coolant puddle on the street.

I drove the truck out to my parents house up North and it appears to be just cosmetic. The rear tire has a small scrape, but the axle drives smooth so I think thats all fine. Ill climb under it this weekend to see more closely.

He actually had to go to the hospital. I'm hoping o find out more details in the next few days.

I think maybe you should re-name your cruiser "Christine" because I think it's cursed. Unfortunately, not in a good way like the book/movie, your's doesn't fix itself.

Have an appointment to have the truck checked out at Gilson Autobody on the 21st. Good part, I have a friend who works there. Bad part, the owner of the vehicle who hit my truck has Gieco and she said Gieco is a joke to deal with. She said they go as CHEAP as possible on everything.

I took a closer look at the truck and everything seems fine except the lower portion of the rear fender where the back door seals. The reast of the truck is fine. The doors are obviously gone, but the windows and internal still work.

I put out a wanted add for white 80 doors and one guy in MT has a pair (bare doors) for $525! I honestly dont see how this damage can total out my truck, but my friend is going to talk with the adjuster and tell him how i have put a LOT of my own blood sweat and tears into this thing and I want to keep it.

Depending on what happens, if I can get a check for the damages and replace the doors myself, then Ill use the money to completely repain the truck all over again. Ive wanted to remove the fender flares, and that would give me a chance to do all that. Just have to wait and see what happens next week when I bring it in...


Any idea on what a new paint job (still white) would run me? From a good shop too, dont want a cheapo crappy one...

Good shop with some body work will probably cost you around $3k for everything. No Coast customs used to be good but just heard from a friend they are closing their doors. If I remember correctly Gilson does auto paint.

That's so infuriating: The innocent get penalized . Something wrong with our society. The fawker that hit you should be man enough to make you whole even if he has s*** insurance. Not your fault.

I don't know all the facts but hard to believe the guy wasn't intoxicated based upon what you have posted here...

Wow do I have a "similar" story for you... Just heard that one of the girls from my wife's salon got into a wreck this weekend and broke her nose.

We found out she was texting and driving on a neighborhood street and hit a PARKED car on the street, breaking her nose on the windshield of her 2000something minivan. Automatically you think that the officers would check this and she would be fined for texting and driving (we know this because it was reported on the police report).

Anyways, we found out yesterday that not only did she only get a "warning" for the texting and driving, but she is also getting full compensation from her insurance company to the tune of $17k for her vehicle.

Now here in-lies the problem, she has been caught stealing from the salon multiple times, not fired only "talked to, and even stole my wife's winter coat AND WORN IT IN THE NEXT DAY, giving the explanation "oh I see it here all the time and assumed someone left it. Oh and sorry I put a cigarette burn mark or two in it last night so here it is back."
Everything she seems to do she gets away with and this recent instance is only an indicator of just how right you are. While I had worked hard for the state, paid my taxes on time, went to school and got TWO degrees I have been "punished" with low paying jobs, people telling me that my degrees aren't worth anything and even have been laid-off because I was found redundant.

well /rant. It is just sad that people like that get away with murder but hard working people get shafted quite often only left to pick-up the tab for those that got away with murder.

I don't personally think she is that cute, decent body, but good lord you would think she was a model with the amount of men falling all over one another for her. But yeah that was pretty much our assumption; turn on waterworks, bat eyes, jiggle the girls a little. BAM!!! Off scott free.

Thanks Dan! I might have to take you up on those doors. I have a few people on here who can sell me white doors, but one wants over 500 for both doors. I'm taking the truck down to Gilson autobody on Monday morning. Hopefully the guy doesn't try and total my truck cause of two doors...


The police report says the driver wasn't impaired. I just wonder why his foot was on the gas the entire time taking out 2 vehicles.

A little over 4500 worth of damages. Waiting to see if Geico approves the estimate and then I'll just have them cut me a check.

Replace the doors, pull out the dented dog leg of the rear fender and repaint the entire truck.

Atleast this will give me a chance to remove all of the fender flares and weld up the holes before the paint job.



Dan, how much you want for the doors? What year and color is the truck?
