I would bet that someone may have switched the data plates if the title and serial number match. or possibly rebuilt it from a couple trailers.

The sheet metal style side supports didn't show up until '46 along with the shackle hanger which is solid (vs the one with holes in it). Also there are three tie downs on the side (vs 4 from military ones) and pockets for the bows which only appears on the civilian version.

It does have the v notch frame support which seems to have started stitching over to an angled support in late 46 to 47

All of these clues still lead me to saying it is probably a 1946.

It's not a military trailer, but it's still a nice trailer.

Someone probably bought a serial number plate at a military swap meet.
 
buddy is goping to make me a set of White Oak support Bows from my orginal trailer support bows. anyone interested let me know ? He will let me know on the cost.....putting a new thread together....
 
Really nice trailer, I've neveer seen one that clean. Can you post some pictures of the wooden support
bows on the trailer?
