Hello everyone. Been awhile since Ive posted anything. Also need to start attending meetings. I bought an 85 pickup a couple of weeks ago. From Las Vegas NV so no rust at all. What do you think? Has 168k miles and runs great. Has a few dings here and there on the body but overall decent shape. Truck is all original from what i can tell except for added power door locks. Would like to keep it in this condition and use it for daily driving and trail excursions.

Cool. Gotta love clean 85's, especially EFI'd.

Oh, and it's nice to have another 22RE in the HDC family. I was starting to get lonely.

Did 85 still have a solid front axle?

Yep, last year. 1985 was the only year you could get EFI and a solid axle. Of course, folks have been doing solid axle swaps for over a decade, along with EFI swaps. But in factory form, 1985 was the holy grail of mini-trucks.

Nice rig!!
If you have it in ya, leave it just like it is... so few uncut left around

Nice toy, what's the story behind the Taco Bandit in the background.

That is the plan. I will keep it mostly stock. In its stock form it will go most places I would want to go.

That is the name of our little RV! It was given the name by the original owner. It is a 1999 Tiger on a Ford F350 chassis. Its 19 foot but built like a small class c.

Ive been doing some maintenance on it this past week. It had an intermittent check engine light that would pop codes 5 and 7. I replaced the o2 sensor and cleared codes but that didnt fix it. So I checked and set the TPS and checked the connectors at the ECU. Seemed like one of the end connectors wasnt fully latched in the ECU. After doing that the light has not come back and seems to be running great. Ive got a pesky power steering pump issue right now that I am dealing with. Pump is noisy when cold. I flushed and bled the system but that didnt help. I bought a reman pump from Oreillys and it was worse than the original. They got me another one but had the wrong pressure fitting attached. I gave up on them. Still need to get that fixed.

To appreciate what you have, I should let you drive mine sometime... sounds like the whole things about to grenade, but just won't die.
I think its all the time it spent on Navajo burial grounds

Nice truck! I know you'll enjoy it.

Regarding your P/S pump - you may want to consider Toyota parts from Cruiser Dan at American Toyota. He gives a good discount for MUD/High Desert Cruiser members. I know the Toyota parts are likely more expensive, but especially with the discount, I think they are a better value in the long run. Plus, you know they will fit and work well. Just my two cents. Welcome to the club and hope to meet you soon - and check out your truck.

Evan
