Hi all,

Long time lurker. I’m happy to be officially part of the crew. Put about 500 miles on her so far. Still trying to think of some names! At 224k miles.

Will be posting photos here eventually on upgrades and other stuff I have been tinkering with.

Grew up driving my mom's 2001 Thundercloud and upgraded from my 1999 4runner and driving this is like riding a bike.

One of the best cruising cars. Definitely missed the feel.

Any other 2000 LC 100 owners out there?

Couple things I am thinking about tackling this year:

•Delete dvd player and replace with overhead light
•Remove aftermarket spoiler and put in OEM third brake light
•Remove aftermarket LED brake lights with OEM year accurate brake lights
•Install new rails (stock ones are in pretty bad shape. anyone recommend similar?)

•Possible repaint. The VIN indicates Mahogany Pearl as the color but this seems closer to a Black Garnet Pearl which is a darker red.. But maybe I am wrong? Can someone confirm this? My eyes tell me it’s not Mahogany.

Would also be looking for any recommendations for paint shops in Southern California. I am willing to drive further for close to factory quality though.

I figure I might as well do a refresh paint eventually in either Thundercloud or some other more neutral color for the heat? Any suggestions? 🤣

Feel free to ask any questions!

I’m 3 weeks into my 2001 mahogany pearl LC. I’ll take a pic when I get back late this week but I’d need to see a close up photo to be able to tell. Mine has the bumpers and body cladding painted dark grey 🤷🏻‍♂️. So far I’ve put on escape gear seat covers, apple carplay head unit, front and rear view cameras to the head unit, speakers, amp, sub. Next up is oem 18 wheels & stock tires ( daily driver kid duty) and window tint. I gave up looking for a thundercloud, had one lined up on here but never could come to a price we could agree on ( I offered more than the BaT auction topped out at, still wasn’t even close). It’s been a money pit but has lowish miles 135k, 1 owner, and zero rust so it should go a while.

Hey there! Yeah i’ve also put a Sony carplay unit in there and it makes a world of difference. i’ve got 18’s on here too. Thundercloud was always my favorite color (still is). My mom has only 140k miles on it and she hardly drives it still so there might be luck there someday to acquire it with a possible son discount 😅😂

No rust here either. I do need to replace the master switch assembly here for the windows tomorrow.

Love the color on that one! Would look better with out tint but I get it if you live in a hot climate
Yeah it is hard here in southern california especially when I do a lot of desert trips. Though I do roll my windows down most of the time, I enjoy the privacy driving through crazy town Los Angeles.

what was the price, im trying to find one

Nice looking truck. A quality paint job is not going to be cheap. Is there actually something wrong with the paint? Looks pretty good in the picture.

Nothing wrong with it, I’m just not sure if it’s the original paint.

Here’s a few photos of what the VIN indicates should be Mahogany Pearl vs the paint on the currently.

Might just be a matter of old paint fading and changing color over time. Though it doesn’t seem as bright or cherry red as the mahogany does.

The fact that the trim is body-colored could be another clue to a possible respray, since that was never an option. Looks great, though, I've always been partial to the "no factory luggage rack" look and I like the classic emblems on the D pillars!

Definitely looks repainted but it doesn't look bad at all. If the paint is in as good of shape as it looks I would leave it.

If you were going to paint anything I would do the trim or maybe trim and bumpers the gunmetal/silver color the factory ones came in. Would help break up the sea of maroon lol

Are you out around Palm Springs in these pictures? I used to Live in Victorville and traveled the desert A LOT as a railroad worker.

Congrats. It's a really nice color, and not one you see very often. It's definitely been painted, as others have mentioned, as the side trim and bumpers wouldn't have been body color from Toyota. If it's good shape, I say run it.

I couldn't own a car without at least 35% tint on the glass, I pick my nose too often. I've even got 50% ceramic on all of my windshields. The only thing someone can see in the front of my cars is my hand on the wheel.

I was thinking I would do the trim and bumpers the silver color that was probably originally on it. Some people like the one tone but I’m personally a fan of the two tone.

I can’t find the color code for the silver though. Is there a resource I can find where someone has that code?

Are there any color codes for the trims of the 100 series? I know there may be only two or three? They were mostly grey?

I wish I could remember where I found mine. I believe there's a code for the trim color on my sticker, but it doesn't directly correlate with Toyota/Lexus colors from what I can tell, and I recall finding a chart somewhere that correlated them with the "standard" color codes... What it worked out to was my 6S5 LX secondary color was UCA76, "Medium Grey Metallic", used on lots of Toyotas/Lexus through the years... and I haven't actually sprayed my Coastal bumpers with the paint I bought yet to know that it matches. :meh:

edit: come to think of it, I'm wondering if the 2nd part of my color code might be related to interior color and not the 2nd exterior color...
