I just put on my 2.5" lift from Man a Fre....the Safari one. The ride is great, but the springs (especially the rears leave my shackles either vertical or close to it. Today I hit a large dip in the road and my right rear spring inverted the shackle! Very frustrating.. I'm using my stock shackles, as the anti-inversion ones that were in the kit were so long that they jacked the truck way the hell up in the air.

My question is: will the springs settle enough to not have to constantly worry about inversion on the street?

Should I just load up the back with sand bags for a few weeks?

Thanks guys....

Man a fre s*** sux!........

I know first hand, 3 times over........

maybe you should used the other shakles they wont invert i have them on mine and it does not jack mine way up it sits flat

I guess I'll ask man a fre tomorrow if I can get stock length anti inversion shackles...the ones they gave me were like 2+" longer than stock...and caused a vibration from 30-40mph...
That, and the shocks they gave me are way too long...grrrr.

Yes, talk to them, they will listen and advise. Put some weight in the back to break them in. Those springs will take extra weight while wheeling. On some Rubicon trips with two adults in the back seat, spare parts such as---transfer case, 3rd member , knuckles, spindles, front and rear axles, steeing box, leaf spring pack, and beer, food and camping gear for 4 adults. The rig is heavy. So these springs really need some weight on them . I kinda push things too far, but you need to put some weight in your cruiser to break them in. HTH John Pardi, Camino, Calif.

Me too kind of. I've never bought anything from them. I've called them on a few occasions about products they needed to check availability on and call me back. Not once did they ever actually call me back. On one occasion I actually called them twice in one day about something I needed ASAP and was told they would call me back within the hour each time. Never happened. This was not on little stuff either I'm talking bumpers, sliders, and pistons. Pretty big turn off for me and there are plenty of other vendors out there to spend money with.

almost every build thread i have read has had a new suspension cause a 'higher' rear end.. even ATLAS' truck did it with an Old Man Emu suspension.

If you had installed the given shackles and then worked them in and given time for them to settle you would probably see a better shackle angle and a level sitting truck.

I'm not saying I'm right but you might want to give it time before trading for stock length shackles - you might screw yourself by having the springs settle and then having a saggy bottom instead of a level truck - call man-a-fre and let them know your confusion and that you will be calling back in a month if they don't settle and that you will want to exchange the shackles for stock length ones - get the persons name on the phone so you can reference them when you call back in a month and you should be all set. I've had item issues with man-a-fre and they've always made good on the mistake almost the next day

Hi All:

Sounds like there is not enough weight being carried in the rig.

I would suggest removing one leaf from each rear spring pack. This will reduce the spring rate of the packs.

Save the leafs that you pull out of the packs; if these spring packs sag too much over the years simply re-install the extra leafs to firm-up the pack.

Good luck!

Alan
