g'day VI crew,

well since mrs.crusty got a sweet 80 the week after we landed, and i've worked most of the bugs on that one out (or at least identified any problems) i had been looking for my own cruiser.

just thought i'd share a few pics of my new ride (drove it home a couple of weeks ago, that was it's OWN adventure).

seems like they are getting harder to find even here! i've been looking since before we left.

the build will be slow, but it's a good solid truck to start with. '83 HJ47 with about the same milage my white '84 had.

i brought a few parts with me, and have scored a "few" more goodies in recent weeks. this should turn out not too bad. it won't be TROGDOR :frown: but should be good enough to have some fun around these parts:grinpimp:.

gotta love the swim deck off the back:hillbilly:

truck looks awesome. Dig the swim deck, you should throw a boarding ladder and an outboard on there.

fxxxer, palm trees and a troopie in your driveway. you suck :flipoff2:

Awesome rig dude! Love the split rims, but you need a bigger front bumper...:D

you need a bigger front bumper...:D

just how big are those kangaroos anyway???

if you had seen the "street pizza" between Rockhampton and Mackay:eek:

kangaroos, wallabys and even a couple of poor old koalas:frown: saw a couple of 'roos that were almost as tall as me, quite dead on the side of the road, every 200m or so.

i avoid night driving (in any rural area, including the "main highway") unless there is no other options. they like to come out at night.

i'm finding out why there is a bullbar on every vehicle i see down here.

cheers

Get on it man, trim those wheel wells out and get some tires on it!

The laws down there aren't to SOA friendly but I'm sure you will build a wicked truck.

Why don't they call it a Roo Bar?

true that! QLD is pretty much the WORST state for vehicle mods. but at least there is no annual safety inspection like NSW. you need an engineer to ok just about everthing, unless it's just a bolt on. it starts to add up quick.

well, feral (wild) cattle is also a problem, and because "most" cattle is some sort of brahma cross, they get HUGE! i guess "bullbar" sounds a little more durable than roo bar. a big roo is about 1/4 the size of a big bull? if that.

i have a few ideas so far, but i think it'll stay SUA for a while. i have a soft top (from a aussie military troopy) and a metaltech cage that will be going in/on.

the wheeling here is much different, not sure how this build will end up, most likely a bit on the mild side.

needs a 5 speed, new springs and shocks, bit of a general clean up (maintenace wise), some decent wheels and power steering. the 750x16 skinnies are ok for now, but bigger boots will make driving it a real bitch as it is.

some real sliders and a decent rear bumper/side protection.

i will perform a "swimdecktomy" shortly, as i have nothing to tow, or need to dive off the back of the truck...lol

i'll have to take some more pics of trucks around town, i've seen some VERY nice 40's and 45's. even a few cool 70 series. there is a couple of 6x6 100 series around as well. this is the land of landcruisers.

ah s***ty avatar but super nice truck

Nice rig. But I would loose the deck before it gets torn off in the bush.

uhhhh, that was the first thing to go;) second was the goofy tow bar.

once that "swimdecktomy" was done, i'm a guess'n i gots me about 14" of ground clearance under the diffs and got about another 200 hp at the rear wheels. i'm ready for some 44's now!:hillbilly:

the real mods are going to have to wait for a bit...

like so...

found a cool sun visor for cheap. works ok, keeps the afternoon sun off the dash.

i'm going to have to get the air-con working soon, it's starting to get warm. winter is over, spring is here:D.

you can have the one out of the troopy, i'm going 5spd/toybox. i'll be keeping the t-case (split, with the park brake). there will be an h41 just sitting there.

shipping is going to kill the deal;)

hey wombat... that's mrs crusty's 80. i just get to drive it from time to time:D
