Hi all, I’ve been around for a while reading mostly but planning on getting my own land cruiser. And guess what?
IT ARRIVED TODAY!!!! :cheer:
:cheer:
She is mechanically strong but cosmetically flawed... a bit like me
her name is AMY :wink:
(being de pin striped)
Amy has many little niggaly problems that will be addressed in the weeks to come, ive photographed all of them and will start to tackle them one by one.
I took her for a drive and she is AWSOME, so much power out of the old 4.7, the auto box is great (it has the well know clunk from the transmission, as discussed in depth on Ih8Mud) but the clutch feels great, breaks are good, one of the suspension components is loose as it thunks when de-weighting.
The headlights are abysmal, I don’t know if all of them are like that but I will try fit new bulbs, otherwise spots are going to be a must.
I spent this afternoon stripping off the old seat covers and scrubbing the interior panels (they where FILFTHY!) Tomorrow I will give the carpets a really good shampoo and de-grease the engine and engine bay to inspect for any leaks, and give the outside a good wash.
(That not rust stain, its coffee)
(Took the seat covers off to find screens, surprise!
)
(Leather on the front two seats are shot, back 5 are ok)
The running boards need to come off along with the mud flaps, and the paintwork will need a touch-up and good polish.
(new wheel is a must, will be easy to find and cheap here)
(subtank and difflock, the steering wheel adjust will go in and out just not up and down. will need to put a winch switch here or use the antenna switch for the winch)
(The winch is there but the front bumper definitely isn’t original... it wont be on the car for long)
I will start my build/repair thread tomorrow.
