Dear friends, I am zeroing in on finishing my Cruiser!

Can ANYONE please help me find or give me advise with the following?

1.- The hoses that goes from the heater to the defroster vents

2.- A suitable winch synthetic cord, I don't want to do wire cable.

3.- One long telescoping mirror for passenger side, rectangle.

Thank you!

I am Stateside and can buy these parts this and next week before traveling back to Mexico. on the 19th.

I believe City Racer sells the defrost tubes, but they are closed at the moment.

Thanks, I know. I have the rubber elbows, what I don't have is the hose/tubing. Unfortunately I am on a timeframe and can't wait for them to open. I do remember @Racer65 suggested the correct tubing in the webpage but cannot remember the size and or make.

I don't remember if this is the exact one, but I measured the diameter and ordered a Dorman duct tube like this one (6-pack for $16 USD). The issue I had was that the size I purchased was EXACTLY the size of the upper connection at the windshield. So, it would not go over or inside the defrost piece up top. Also, I have no idea whether your 65 is the same as my '67.

Thank you! How did you end up connecting at the top?

What I did was not perfect but works OK. I made a cut which allowed the pip to overlap itself slightly, enough to go inside the upper tube. Whenever I’m messing with wiring or something else near it I seem to have to redo it which anyone who has worked under the dash of the old 40 knows is a PIA.

I would think if you could find a six pack like the link I sent, you could rig something better up with leftovers if it doesn’t work :)

Cool cruisers of Texas sells mirrors

Here are are several places i like to use: marksoffroad.net, Cruiserparts.net, fjparts.com. sometimes when I can not find it I do a search on searchtempest.com (its a search engine for craigslist) and paypal money to the owner of the part if they willing to ship it to you.

Hello friends!

A few updates:

I now have my red 1965 seatbelt! Package was lost for nearly one year.

The straps were cleaned and wow do they look nice:

And my carb was fully rebuilt using a kit I got of "Flea Bay" as @HelloKitty65 would call. It was a perfect fit and my carb does not leak anymore:

Now my ailings:

My winch knob hits the heater when pushed forward, do I need a finer one?

I also need help with this, the knob I bought from @thecrazygreek, which is beautiful, does not fit my F.D. cable. It is a M6 width and the knob is for an M4 I believe. Does this mean my pull cable is not OEM? I am confused.

And lastly, does anyone know how the rear metal loop that hold the rear bifold door fits? I am unable to make it work!

And lastly, I decided to commission a local smith to do a repro of the passenger telescoping mirror and aforementioned "loop" because I only had one of each.

Not bad for a small town smith I'd say, still a working progress:

IIRC it was @owensexport that determined there were three different thread diameter/pitch possibilities for the early FD cables. So the fact that your knob doesn’t fit is not determinative of whether your cable is stock.

You probably would have gotten a faster answer if you posed this ? in the 25 forum. A lot of the ‘early’ guys hang out there like @middlecalf and @HelloKitty65 .

BTW, your RH window regulator is on upside down.😛

Thanks for the reply Mark!

"BTW, your RH window regulator is on upside down.😛". Holy crap, I hadn't noticed and boy do I feel incredibly embarrassed and stupid.

Your cruiser is coming along nicely. I remember i when installed a tuffy console on a 79, the gear shifter kept hitting or bottoming out and would not allow me to shift comfortably so i got the torch out and proceded binding the shift lever until it did not hit the console. I don't recommend doing that to the PTO lever but if you can cosmeticly make it look "right" and make it functional...that could be a possibility or shortened it enough to clear the heater. Anyhow, it will be interesting to see how you remmendy this issue.

Thank you, I will keep you posted.

Hey there,

Message me on that FD KNOB. I'll get you a 4mm version free of charge. Just handle the shipping and I should get one to you in the next few days.

There's only two options regarding the threads. 4mm and 5mm. You got one of my 5mm. I believe they went up in size in the 64 to 65 year area...

First of all I want to make it absolutely clear that I was not calling you out in any way!

Thank you for the kind offer. I believe you sent me a 4mm but the "male" is 6mm. I am extremely confused and this is why I believe I may have an altered, non-stock, F.D. set up.

Would you be able to do a 6mm? I'd be happy to pay for it.

Cheers!

J

Thank you very much for this!

What I need is to see a picture of it actually holding the door. When I try it isn't long enough to hook.

I would like to see that too.😊 Ijust found a pair of those in my office drawer. I was going to post a pic and ask where they go. I pulled them off a ‘64 that I parted out in ‘92 and just don’t remember any more.☹️
