What does the manual mean by "Pilot Meter" light? - Instrument cluster lights is my guess.

Here's the floater, pretty cool looking and...it works! Everything works! I finally get a break.

This whole endeavour set me back $250, and I got to keep the original cluster frame and most of it remains OEM. Back circuits will have to be adapted as will the light sockets, etc...
That, unfortunately, will not be OEM but will be craft made with the wisdom of a man who clearly knows his circuits.

My cluster is now mounted and working!

I have to thank @largeone for his generous help in getting the back wiring to me. It completed what I have and I now have OEM wiring on my Instruments. Thank you kind sir!

The stock screws for the instrument cluster are phillips drive, but with a domed shaped head, rather than the flat faced heads in your photo. Only a cosmetic difference. Great work on the restoration!

I restored the headlight screws, pressure washers today and installed the headlight buckets.

Headlight buckets are looking pretty sweet:

Also rewired the Koito headlight plugs, the wires were very brittle, I cut them as short as possible, soldered new wiring and voilá:

I'm worried...the hinges and hood are "bleeding rust"... is this normal?

I don't think it is...

I think I may have to take everything apart again and wirebrush everything....Sucks!

☹️

My swb45 is almost 30 years into its respray, the same color as yours, and I’ve not had to deal with anything like that. I have some rust bleed like that on my 68 and 69. Interestingly, they are both still in factory paint.

Use CLR for removing the rust on the paint. Rarely does rust deeply stain paint, so it comes off.

Fix paint that needs fixing, but it would seem natural that there would be a flush of rust show up if all the seems were exposed to fresh iron dust from the restoration's sanding and grinding.

I use Boeshield (bottle not aerosol). Others use Fluid Film. Basically, oiling is a big help for all the surfaces that tend to rust.

x2 - Basically, oiling is a big help for all the surfaces that tend to rust.

Apply oil to those cracked paint and rusty areas, and wipe off the excess. It will collect a small amount of dust - then wipe one extra time.

I’ve always been a fan of oil. Stopped the rust in my floorboards cold…35 years ago.

Well that and drilling a couple of discrete holes in the floor for the water to drain.😛

Friends, please excuse my prolonged absence, I lost my job in late July and money has been incredibly tight. I've been working on and off on part time jobs to maet basic needs. That being said, there has been some progress.

First of all, in one of my visits to some of the old parts shops in Mexico City I discovered a used and old wiper arm that I liked and thought might fit. The brand is Mitsuba, they began in 1946 making generator lamps for bycicles and they began making super motors and accessories, like arms, in the 1950's.

The mechanism corresponds non-us specs.

The tips are perfect for the OEM wiper arms, Japan Stainless.

It did, so I went online and found they aren't that expensive and ordered two, I finally have them. Will present them next week with my OEM siper blades which I cannot find for the life of me. They will turn up, I am sure....right? RIGHT?

My starter was bad, it keeps on getting stuck on the start position and keeps turning. All the moving parts were repaired by specialists to no avail.
It seems the issue was on the Automatic, which, when opened showed some ...green paint inside?

Decided to give up on the repair, got myself a new Gear Reduction Starter as per @HelloKitty65 's recommendation for a quick and "economical" replacement that could also be an upgrade.
Got this one which will be installed on Monday too. With that and a few small details, all electric will be finished.

Here's a picture of my dashboard ready, I know, screws aren't correct, they're not a priority at the moment but will tend to them when the time comes.

I decided to install some LED interior lights hidden right where the rooftop liner ends. We used an unused hole that was below the right flasher indicator and put a retro looking knob in it. I will post some pict of the lights when I can take some pictures in the dark.

Steering wheel and horn button are looking great.

I lost my elephant horns though, will have to do with some temporary replacements...

And I also got a new windshield! Courtesy of my friend Manuel.
Never knew it could make such a difference.

I put a gear reduction starter in my 64 longbed (the one I take off road) many years ago. They are extremely useful for crawling the truck forward in a technical situation when even first low is too tall.

Thank you for the reassurance Mark. It was a bittersweet decision to ditch the OEM starter and go GRS and am convinced it was the right one.

Success! Installed wiper arms and blades, I now have arms and blades and am ready for rain!

The wiper motor bolt was a bit crusty:

Gave it a good sanding:

The bolt from the motor all cleaned up:

Wiper base fit perfectly:

Mitsuba wiper arms installed and went perfectly with my OEM wiper blades!

Video to come!

Edit: Here's a link with the wipers working:
