So far I have:

For OZ Spec Vehicle.
HJ47 was introduced in 07/80 and had:
2H 4.2 liter engine
Disc front brakes,
Larger spring bushings
Fuel tank under cab
Padded dash
Square bezel
16" wheels
Split T-case
H41, 4 speed tranny (got H55 in 1983)
Full floater rear axels (HJ45 & HJ47 both)
Both 12 Volt

Any other differences between the HJ45 & HJ47? (OZ Spec.)

The late 79 and early 80 HJ45 has some of these changes (All except padded dash?). It just depends on specific vehicle. They were running changes.

Any intersting info on them?

I need to stay early 82 because of 25 year import rule.

Are there any manuals or books that I can get to learn more specifics what each does and does not have?

I posted this in the clissafied sec by mistake here is where I ment to put it.

Well, i have a 1982 (Feb) HJ47 from Oz, and my 12v. truck has drums all 'round, full floater rear axle, split t-case with H 41, 16" wheels, and the 2H is 4 liter, not 4.2.

The HJ47 came with anti-sway bars front and rear. Mine had stock manual steering (power steering coming in 1983, and is rare anyhow), with a pwer steering system grafted in, using a Nissan pump. It works so-so.

The fuel tank is under the cab, with the vapor separator wrapped up the back of the cab and concealed by a cover plate. The top of the dash is padded, and the front bezel is square. Mine has the later style dash with the digital clock, and a tachometer on the side. I suspect this is non-stock, as I can't find the appropriate terminal in the harness for the clock. I'd dearly love to find some accurate wiring info, or even an idea as to how to put power to the clock (4-spade terminal block style) if only to test it without frying it.
If you get a factory body/chassis manual, make sure you get one from pre-1980, as the Aug. 1980 edition deals mostly with the then newly-introduced 60 seres. The Aug. 1980 manual does show a wiring diagram for the HJ47, however it is only about 85% accurate for my truck. It would be worse if my truck were an October 1982 model, as a lot of changes occured that month in terms of increased electrical complexity. Heck, that's when the glow plug timer first appeared in this vehicle, along with seat belt buzzers, and so on. I'm glad to not have all that stuff personally.

I've been stripping apart a 1981 BJ60 for electrical and other parts and it is amazing how much more complicated the electrical system is, compared to my truck.

If you scope EBay for HJ47's you will be able to gather various pictures showing dash and underhood layouts, which I have found to be helpful in figuring what is what.

Thank you Henry,

Thats some of the things I was wondering about.
Good to know from Oct. Ele sys getting more complex, I like simple.

I wonder what the differances are between a 1980 HJ45 and a 1980 HJ47 are? Dash and engine?

When did the HJ45 production actually stop? What month/year?

Interesting..

I imported number HJ47000152 VIN ( I think that's what it was) It was one of the very first ones made from mid 1980. I sold it to a fellow Yankee Toys member but I don't know if he would want his name posted. Put a posting in the Yankee Toys club section on this site about 47 info.

OZ definitely didn't have discs....drums all around.

I have an 06-80 HJ45. Imported from oz. Can I take a pic of anything specific for you?

H diesel
4 spd
drums all around
full floating rear
power brakes
one owner truck with 60316 kilometers on it.

24hours,

does your 45 have the split t-case?
