After four years of sitting i've decided to turn on the truck. At first it did'nt start so i hooked up a battery charger to the battery. After the battery charged it started but my question to you guys is, why does the truck die out after i get the car moving in second gear? We put 91 in it but there was a quarter tank of old gas. Could this be the problem?

I would drain the tank using the drain plug on the bottom of the tank if you didn't add much. You might need to remove spare tire. If you added a lot then, I would fill it up and dilute it and add a some stabil. Also check your fuel filter.

alright guys i drained the gas tank and then i put a new fuel filter in.... its doing the same thing and i think its running worse lol... we went ahead and put seafoam in and still no change.... what should i do now?

Try taking the air cleaner off, and spraying Carb Clean down the throat of the carb while it's running.
Check the air filter for mice.

Float gummed up/stuck. Fuel bowl gummed up. Cap-rotor ok? Vaccum line cracked? Carb gasket dried out/cracked? Try the porpane trick to check for vaccum leaks. Fuel line clogged? Sitting is the enemy.

Don't have points does it? I know mine doesn't. Check the plugs & wires . Coils go bad with age...Just tryin to think of everything...at least it started...thats better than no running at all.

how do you do the propane trick? we didnt try that yet... how would i know if the cap and rotor is working properly?

That's why I use my truck on a daily basis. Since I started doing this, is running great! Advice; once you get it running right, use it!!

Could be any number of things. First go to your usual suspects, ie, tune up items. Could also be loose vacuum line/lines. Check each one for a tight fit. Replace as necessary or at least on ones you can...cut a 1/4 inch off & reattach to get a tight fit.

What is your idle speed ? it might need a slight adjustment.

X2 on the usual tune up issues. Check plug wires, clogged up fuel filter, broken vacuum lines etc.:hhmm:

when i turn on the truck it idles at about 500 rpms

Just bought spark plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor. amd i will be putting them in tomorow. ill keep u guys updated
