I have a chance to pick up my ex’s rolled 4 runner. It’s actually still in great shape other than a dented roof and broken windshield.

Is the 4.7 usable as a potential swap into my 2001 lx470? Trans? tcase? Any other usable parts I can pilfer?
I might just have it caged and wheel it. I’m in Az and it’s not too difficult

Buy, cut, cage and enjoy.

Oh yea, call her after done and say thanks!

The price is right and I know some decent aftermarket stuff exists for the 4th gen. But I still wonder if it’s drivetrain night work for my lexus

I'm not an expert, but I believe there were some 100 specific engine components and accessories. Ex: the engine may be the same but the oil pan or water pumps or alternators and stuff aren't interchangeable.

My plan would be to remove the engine and refresh it / get it ready for the swap. I will have my original engine in the hundy to pilfer needed “100 only” parts.

It'd definitely be cool to have. What year is your truck and the 4r? Again, no expert, but I think some 100s had some forged internals other 4.7s didn't get...? And I ask about years because of the VVT-i.

My hundred is a 2001.
The 4Runner is 2004

IS there anything wrong with your 100 motor? I would leave it as it left the factory. these enginges easily go over 500k with oil changes and TB / Water pumps........ seems like a lot of work for no benefit to me

id rock the runner and build it as a buggy.....

For a grand I'd buy it and take a sawzall to the roof.
