After a day on the beach, he was quiet and not himself. A night of vomitting and diarhea and restlessnes, we brought him to the ER vet.

Sand colic. Fawker ate seaweed, dead crabs and whatever to the point where he's all bunged up with sand, so the X-Rays say.

Two enemas later and a bunch of laxatives, he's passing some sand poop.

Damn dogs. We love him so much. Fawker.

Oh, ouch on the sand turd... Wish they could learn from this stuff... Roomies dog ate himself full on bacon grease soaked paper towels once... As long as they can pass something they'll make it..

Hop it all works out ok... Pun. My nut case ate three used tampons. They did the job and stopped everything for three days. It all came out at once when she was in the rear of my 4Runner. Thank god for floor mats

Hope he is ok, sounds like he should be.

Holy sh*t! I missed this one!

Come to think of it though, I seem to remember female college friends bitching (hah!) about their dogs doing that. :D

that sucks. im glad he's ok. its amazing what these guys will eat.
the other night we had thai food and one of the dishes was garlic seafood and i knocked it onto the hardwood and i spilled so much juice it took about a quarter of a roll of paper towels to get it up. so i then later catch him in the garbage trying to eat the paper towels. thought i caught him in time but what do ya know? at 5:30 am i here him heaving heaving SPLAT!!!
look over the side of the bed see a mountain of papertowels on the floor.
thank god for hardwood

ER vet?

damn...that had to be $$$

glad the lil' fxxxer's okay tho'

that sucks, the first year we went to surf n turf pulled up just started setting up camp and my dog has this look like check out this lake and starts running all out . dives in and comes up looking at me like whats this s***!!!!!! had the same experance but after that she would not get in any water until she took a small taste

My boxer used to eat plastic grocery bags whole. At least your dog had the sense to eat something organic.

Ummm, last I checked, sand wasn't organic.

My pup ate a hambone whole a month ago. I was worried that it was too big to come out the other side. The acid in his stomach evidently broke it down some cause it was in pieces out the other end.

Reminds me of this...

"You mean we're smokin dog****!"

as long as he can pass it, even with the ER vet bill, consider yourself lucky --

-- surgery to remove that sorta stuff is 3x the price --

I've had a couple of horses that didn't recover from that...

Glad every thing came out ok.:D

Had almost the same thing happen. Lil'fawker was workin'a T-bone and before I could get the neck away from him, GULP. He was proud as s*** of himself, till the next evening in the front yard when he was spraying like a clogged sprinkler. The third night he hunched over and pushed and howled and pushed and howled and finally, after the patented tail twitch, popped it out. I swear it looked the same as when he swallowed it. Needless to say, he doesn't get steak bones anymore.

macneil, Glad it all worked out!

Glad you were able to take care of the little bugger. They will get into things, won't they? I once was walking a neighbor's dog, thing went for somethig on the ground, turned out to be a whole chicken neck. I was able to clamp my hands around her mouth so she could open it enough to swallow it, and we spent the next twenty minutes like that until she finally dropped the thing.

ORLY?

A few years back my mini dachshund found some discarded oil from a fish fry the night before. I'm not sure how much she ate but on the way home from the camp, she was riding proud on the center console of my truck looking at all the sights when all of a sudden you could tell something wasn't right. Then she proceeded to projectile vomit this oily substance all over my dash. It was absolutely disgusting. That dog will eat some of the most vile things if she can find it before I stop her.
