It runs really nice and idles smoother at a lower RPM. I have started it 5 times now w/o getting the dizzy cap ventilation issue feedback from under the glovebox (fingers crossed) Once I get the CCOT OEM tune-up done and the Intake/Exhaust gasket replaced and the timing/carb adjusted. It should be even better. I have alot more power now.

still looking for a pic of the AC Idle up solenoid. that seems to be very elusive in all the pics on the entire thread, all 282 posts.

pics anyone? i need to know i have the correct one, because mine doesn't make the idle go up when the AC is on.

The AC is not part of the smog system, so it makes sense it would not be in the desmog thread.

Post up a pic of the carb and the driver's fenderwell, and somebody can point out the location of the AC idle up parts.

the only reason i bring it up is because it is connected to that big wad of smog stuff that people take off and there are 3-4 solenoids that all look similar, and 1 has to stay there.. i just want to make sure i am keep and wiring the correct one.

there was some long chat about timing on page 3 of this thread. after the desmog, does the timing need to be set different? or should the truck run great at 7* at idle? with or without the HAC below 2000 ft.

would headers or RV Cam change the timing number at idle?

I would have to assume that 7* would be correct for stock below 4300 w/ or w/o the High Altitude compensator. I also think timing would be slightly different for a bigger bumpstick

i also bored the block to .040 pistons. would that combination have a great effect on timing. (OEM rebuilt carb and recurved dizzy)

Pretty sure distributor timing is based solely on what time the valves on the head are opening and closing, since cam dictates that, it has to do with timing but other performance enhancements like bore aren't related

No, it is not.
The AC idle up gets a vacuum hose from a dedicated fitting on the power brake fitting, goes direct to the idle up solenoid, then direct back to the idle up pot on the carb.

It is the solenoid that has 2 vac connections (not 1, not 3), and is not mounted w/ all the smog solenoids on the smog platform on fenderwell.
AC solenoid is usually mounted to the vertical inner fender under a 6mm bolt.

What advance numbers does the dissy give now? If you don't know, did I do the recurve?

Well, I removed the EGR cooler and pipe, and plated the egr line on back of the exhaust manifold. Had to take off the I/E manifold to redo the gasket so it was a perfect time. also adjusted the valves, timing and installed the CCOT tuneup kit. It's quiet, running amazing and partying like its 1983 (Nov. 1982 actually)

oh yeah....Valve cover, inspection cover, and oil pan gasket too.

Anybody doing a desmog should (IMHO) also just drop the 183.00 to do that OEM Tunekit from CCOT. It's such a good time to make sure you're tuning a freshly maintained motor.

Good advice trapper, I think I'm going to do that, now that I have my Yukon back on the road, i can finally get back to where the fun is. I know that there are other postings out there with the appropriate part #s for the tubing from McMaster Carr, but since you seem to be right here, do you have the part numbers? I'll search and post them in this thread for everybody else if you don't. I plan on placing my own order so I have to find them anyway.

Ok, I did a quick search (because that is what I would have told anybody else to do) and it looks like the part number for the McMaster Carr vacuum tubing is P/N 5041K22 or P/N 5041K52 I haven't verified that with the Mcmaster Carr website, but will later, I'm guessing that everything in that part range is varying colors and other stuff, so will try to hone in on what is best. But right now, I need some lunch.

I used the firm stuff (which still bends plenty)

Here are the numbers:

3mm - 5041K-22
6mm - 5041K-24

I got 32FT of the 3mm and had about 8ft left over (HAC delete Desmog)
12FT of the 6mm and had about 3ft left over

I got it in Red which is actually orangy-brown

Works great!

Seriously tempting although I work at a brewery. I have floated the Bighorn in Fort Smith Montana a few times, prob. not too far from you. Amazing time. Alas my dockett is pretty full. Spring Turkey in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado along with Cruise Moab.
