Ah I see.

After I took the picture I was like why didn't I put all of the TEQ in there.

Hey that Equus thing is a 1/8 BSPT to 1/8 NPT, not 1/4 NPT like my silly brother above said :) Basically, we did a 1/8 BSPT to 1/8 NPT adapter and then blocked it off with a 1/8 NPT plug.

SO, that means it's gonna be SUPER easy to get a hose barb on there for a vacuum source if you use that handy adapter.

Combine a 1/8 BSPT male to 1/8 NPT female adapter (like the Equus part, or you can source one at McMaster) with a commonly available 1/8 NPT to hose barb (Advance Auto carries an assortment of different barb sizes, should have something of appropriate diameter for what you're doing), and you've got yourself a vacuum source.

If you could find a 1/8 BSPT to hose barb adapter, that would be ideal. But BSPT fittings are hard to come by here in the States; it's much easier to get a 1/8 BSPT to 1/8 NPT adapter and work from there.

Thanks

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. I am new to LC only had mine for about 2 months but there is a wealth of knowledge here that is forsure.
After reading through this front to back about 3 times and studying all the diagrams and printing out a bunch of pictures they did finally make since once I took the plunge.
I kept my HAC so it is still a little conjusted in there but it runs 10 times better then what it was. That EGR system was all messed up let me tell ya. devaining the pump now hopefully have it back together tomorrow. once again I want to thank u all for working though this step by step. :)

trapper50 -- i have a "gas filter" that is extra i could send you, i think. out of town til Tues. PM me.

Thanks,

I think I'll be able to solve, but I appreciate the offer. I'll keep it as a backup plan and let you know if I end up needing it. In the meantime, if you need it elsewhere, go ahead.

Well, I think I got it wrapped up, with a little fabrication and Steve's garage again...

The bolt that was plugging the manifold got a hole drilled through it thanks to a nice drill press, a sharp bit and some oil...and a brass elbow press fit in a vice with a little red locktite.

Oh, and a spacer (donated from a rocker assembly I think) so the bolt wouldn't sink into the manifold airway so much and to bring the elbow up a bit.

So hopefully, no more distrbutor cap explosions

Well, not out of the woods yet...

Brought it home-2miles, parked it, let it sit for 3 hours, went out, started it and whooommppphhh, from below the glovebox. Would the change be instant or need to build up the vacuum? VCV dizzyside toast? Color me curious

A failed vacuum advancer can cause this symptom. Test the vac advance w/ a mityvac to be sure it holds vacuum.

seems like i am struggling with this in my head as much as going SOA! want to go there so bad!!!:confused:

Mine runs SO much stronger and smoother now that I have done the rudimentary (sp?) desmog stuff. Once I set the timing correctly (digital readout) install the silicone vacuum lines and the CCOT OEM Tune-up kit and redo the intake/exhaust, it'll be like a new motor. I have been really amazed so far.

Final Draft?

Okay, here is what I think is my "DONE" desmog...I have replaced all the vacuum lines with CarrMcMaster Silicone lines & have replaced the VCV on the dizzy side.

This is an HAC delete set-up.

Take a look and tear it apart, anything look screwy?Everything should be tracable throughout the pix.

....and ....GO
