My Cruiser Broke My Heart

Let the air out of the tires, borrow an engine hoist and have a wrenching party.

Well, I met a guy on a job site who has had 5 Land Cruisers to this point and he is going to put me in contact with a mechanic in TJ that knows his Cruisers. So I will see what he has to say.
This is a horrible decision to have to make between repairing or selling and starting over.
Anyway playing the lotto tomorrow so I can just ship it up to Slee for a V8 swap when I win. Problem Solved

Looks like a strike out on the TJ mechanic. Not sure what would have came of that anyway. :meh:
Still have no free time or desire to wrench on her. Checked the classifieds and 80's are going for cheap so no way I think I could get $6-7k for her as is.
So looks like I will probably pull off all the cool stuff and sell probably $3k worth of stuff easily. And will just have to start from scratch like I did 8 years ago but with a GX470 V8.

So prices for 80's here on Mud are either top dollar or going for cheap and prices on CL are either crap or not selling. So in order for me to get $6k out of it I will need to partially part it out. Just in aftermarket items and stuff my buddy needs for his 97 LX I should get $4k and then I can get creative with other items like Body parts and a head with only 1,500 miles on it. And finally the last few hundred that the junk yard will give me for it.

I can't justify spending that money plus whatever it will cost to have it installed. And still have a vehicle that is not right for my future needs. It's a shame to part her out but after 4 months of debating this I have detached myself from the love I had for this truck and the belief in the Invincibility of these trucks.

Can you pass along the contact info for the mechanic in TJ?
Never got his number the guy that told me about him said he changed his number. But if I do get it I will PM it to you.

I have heard of a very capable LC shop from a bad ass jeep shop in TJ, I will prod them for some more information next week incase you are still interested.

Thx & good luck.

The parting out began this weekend with my buddy swapping his torn seats for mine, his lame LX center console for mine with 4 cup holders, and buying my drawer system. And he plans on buying my transmission too.

At this point I am just planning on parting out the easy bolt on stuff and then get into the tougher items. So keep an eye out next week for all of my armor to go up for sale.
