Bill

Did you throw those in the lathe and hit them w/fine paper or a stone?
Good salvage job

That is a photo of a new set that I had supplied to Bill a while back. That set currently resides in Eric's 91. Bill has another set on the way to him to replace them as we speek.

Yup. Got me plenty of spares in the truck every time I wheel and always some in the garage at home too.

Nothing worse than needing something and not having it. Helps when you know or learn how to get home from the trail when you don't have everything you need (I learned the hard way about 1-1/2 yr ago).

Rick,

I used to just carry things like belts, hoses, and all the ignition stuff. Then the more I keep jacking with the cruiser like 35 inch tires etc., the more I feel I need other types of spares. Some bad experiences don't help either. Most of my travels were to the North country where finding parts is hard. I once broke down under warrenty up there and called Toyota. They said get it towed to Anchorage AK. At the time that was 1350 miles away of which Toyota would pay for 50 or 100 miles. Just turned out to be the EFI fuse from a MAF fuel pump that locked up that I had added but after that I figured to take as many spare parts as I could. It has also had a side effect in that I have been able to help several people along the road with spare stuff that is not Toyota specific.

wow, Bill -- could you imagine how much 1,300 miles would cost for towing??!!

as a lesson from you, I am gonna get some spare parts and will post them somewhere on this site that I have them -- if anyone ever needs them quickly, I'll return the favor as you did me -- :)

Eric - You just made my heart glad. That's what it's all about.

does anyone want my old spare axles? they're grooved, and i haven't the ability nor interest in turning them --

-- you pay shipping, and they're yours --

PM headed your way Eric. Are these the axles that had the worn splines?

Most excellent-those axles and some cheapo birfs would get me out of a jam! I'm pretty sensitive about broken axles just now-I just broke one myself on the Rubicon last weekend, and saw 6 total when I did the Rubicon in June with the TLCA. Thanks. I sent you the PM with my address.
