If I do this, it won't be green for long. I'd be bringing it back to what I believe is the original dune beige.
I really appreciate all the feedback. I have to add that I don't think that I got a bad deal, only that I may have made a hasty decision.
I also vacillate between pure bliss and wanting to throw up in my mouth over this. Currently closer to pure bliss.

That says a ton right there. The words “color change” are usually the last words you hear before someone falls down the restoration rabbit hole.

And a rabbit hole it is. Dunham, a couple of thoughts. First, the wanting to throw up in your mouth is probably a long hangover carryover--am quite certain another beer will help to to get your systems back and running. Second, why not just spray all rust areas liberally with a rust converter, get it running and just have fun with it. Not all 40s mandate a frame off and you start going down that path, it is all about time and money and money and time. I have the latter but very little patience to go down a full blown restoration path. Plus, you have some nice riding areas in the Auburn/Truckee/Tahoe areas to ride. Just my proverbial 2 cents.

I like it. If you want a top shelf resto for serious $$ start with something else. If you want a cool projects you can drive and pick away at, it will be great. Take it for a spin when you get it running and see if it speaks to you. If you look back when you walk away, you are hooked! Just don't tear it all apart. Keep it running an usable and do small projects as you enjoy it.

i concur - you done good! that rust is nothing compared to what others have tackled and overall everything but the roof looks solid. scrape the points and check the fuel filter, it should run. drive it for a while and decide if you want to restore it etc. shouldn't take much money to get it running solid and you could double your money

At $3500 a niec place to start. Follow Mark and get it safe to drive. Steering and brakes are simple.

Yeah, I guess I could just address the rust areas with, say, Por15, smooth with body filler, and top coat it. Then enjoy! The back doors not functioning will cut down on said enjoyment, but I could work on that. I envisioned, in one of the many versions of this ownership, having it for the long haul, but, as many have pointed out, maybe this is not the right rig for that

Hell, just buy some body filler and a few dozen rattle ball cans, and list it on eBay as a full frame up restoration. Somebody will probably buy it.
