My 60 at RUBITHON and what needs to be fixed.

Hello all,
Just got in last night from a 1100 mile round trip in the 60. My buddy Steve (FJ45) and I drove our rigs to Rubithon. No Drama on the road beside his 45 had trouble staying cool in the 100 degree heat on the freeway but other than that all was good.
We had a great time there, we did the wagon run and what a awesome experience that was. The sprung under 60 on 33 AT's did great even tough i have a set of leafspings and shocks that are done, i mean done, look at the pics and see for your self. New spings are i order and shocks.
I did take some body damage, nothing that bothers me, but if i would not have had the armor my rig would look quite a bit differnt. The body armor saved this rig about every five minute on the trail, no BS, i was draging some part of my sliders or bumpers alll the time. got to love armor. anyway here is a few pics. more to follow as i get them resized.

wow, nice job on the armor. How much weight did you have inside & up top? What kinda rack are you running w/?

FWIW, my springs are flatter.... bounced me around pretty good on an old ranch road that my lil car would've been fine on. definately time to order suspension!

Here are somemore, and let me tell you all this 60 ROCKS it was fun just watching Chappy and Misty make it work. Great set up Its a good thing There youngest son is so small there was not a whole lot of room left after packing all there camping stuff.

Weight, not sure but it was quite a bit inside, tried real hard to keep the sleeping bags and such up on top, so i guess about 100-140 on top, and that is a guess. iside however is another story, easy 200-250 in just the rear then there is the passengers and anothe 40 quart cooler up front with the kids. so if i had to guess, i would say about 500 in extra weight plus i run a 30 gallon tank.
The armor was in place when i got the rig but yes it worked very well.

My spring are OME heavy, about 7 years old from what i was told, shocks are shot too so that did not help.
My rack is a home built model. any way hope this helps.

nicely done!!! the Con' in a wagon on 33's. There are people out there that swear you won't be able to run it without 37's.

Is that second shot a rear spring? (confused by the disc brakes) If it is, they aren't OME heavy, the OME heavies have 2 overload leaves..... (for a total of 8 leaves IIRC)

Yes that is the rear end, full floater disk break conversion on there. Well that is good to know they are not heavies i was gonna worry, i was looking through old paper work on the truck and thought it said heavy OME.

Looking for new springs now, thinking of staying with the same set up for now, sprung under that is, i happen to like the way it handled and right now i not in the mood to do alot of work on a sping over. thanks again,

Nice job piloting the 33s through. Just the right size to keep things interesting.

Might want to get heavies for the rear and open the packs if that kind of wheeling and your load stays constant. I can't tell much difference in ride quality and that extra leaf keeps the rear level (2600lb/3400lb is my ratio).

Did I miss the write up on this rig, and/or the rack? What's the doo-hickey up front on the diamond plate above rear view mirror? Is that an ARB bumper? Lights make the top hoop look funky.

it is my mount for a spot light , it rotates 360 and up and down. kinda cool
