This is Gary Walters. I am building a project with a SBC with H55 and a split transfer case. This drive train will be set in an 80 frame. I am using a Aqualu 4 door forty body.
I have test fitted the engine and marked the frame for the motor mounts.
I am at the point of needing a transmission cross member fabricated. I do not have the equipment to bend tubing and I think that would be the best way to fabricate a proper cross member.
So I need a shop that has the equipment and talent to fabricate a cross member.
Any suggestions?
PM or call me 601-319-9970
Thanks

Tell him Nolen Grogan told you his shop was the one to use.

He is the closest thing we have to a 4x4 fab shop that i trust around here. Good prices and they know custom and they know bolt on. Not one or the other.

Ah ha. So this is @gwalt584 's rig I snapped a pic of today? Beautiful, man.

a man just can't keep a secret!, HA!
OK, so who has a walking foot sewing machine, locally?
no one wants to touch making the top.
Gary

Did you contact @antFJ ? At one time he was doing (or had the capability of doing) that kind of work. He's in Meridian.

I thought he moved to California. did he get stationed in Meridian?

Meridian is Navy. He's an Air Force guy. Was at Columbus AFB.

you guys are funny. been heading overseas a lot but I will be home (California) for a long stint from October to February. I've already had someone talk to me about making them a troopy top during this time. I could probably make another top and that would certainly decrease the costs. It all depends on what kind of material you are looking to get... the top of the line tops will require probably about $1400 in materials for a troopy top and $1000 in materials for a regular 40.

That all being said the troopy will use the same bows as a 40 just longer in the back... how are the bows going to work with the 4 doors?

I'd be nervous about making a top without the truck in house... even with good measurements the 4 bows would be a challenge and you run the risk of having to mail the top back and forth to get the fit just right.

Anthony,
I studied your thread on building a top and came to the conclusion that I would just buy a sewing machine from Sailrite and do it myself.
I looked at your pattern drawing and viewed a dozen of Sailrite's videos on how to sew zippers to videos on windows and much more.
Your right, we've done everything else, so why not a top!
