I'm always interested in new music that fits: working on the cruiser, or in the shop blacksmithing, camping etc. A guy contacted me about playing in my restaurant this Saturday, but I did not start this thread to advertise, just full disclosure. I like his sound, all original and I was thinking some of you cruiserheads might have some favorites you want to share.. so share on.

not sure of your style...but

Jack Johnson

Black Keys

Kings of Leon

few bands you won't hear much of (if any) on local stations

I like a good beat while I wrench.

Elvis Costello...

Also The Clash...

This is one of the best live performances. Amazing they got this many greats on one stage.

Or my all-time favorite band when I am feeling heavy.

Rage Against the Machine...

Tom Morello before anyone knew who he was. It's one of those bands that I can always remember driving my first car. I am sure everyone has a song or band that instantly takes them back to that feeling of diving on your own on a dark highway with ultimate freedom. My 1979 RX-7, god I loved that car.

Music

the steeldrivers

Robert Earl

Zeplin (if my head aint right)

and of course the song that fits my Cruiser addiction "Flirtin with disaster" by Molly Hatchet

I listen to a few different bands in the garage.

Led Zeppelin
311
Marley
ELO
Widespread Panic
Drive By Truckers

My latest album I've been listening to is Alan Parker & John Cameron's Afro Rock

I would also say Motley Crue, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters and right now my favorite band Filter. But I don't think thats up Bob's alley.

if were listing stoner bands

Sublime

Slightly Stoopid

the pixies

MGMT

Old dirt road- Lennon
Mississippi Queen- Mountain
Fighting for Madge-Fleetwood Mac
Rattlesnake shake-Fleetwood Mac
Cleaning windows-Van Morrison
Wild nights-Van Morrison
Go with the flow- Queens of the Stone Age
Black Dog- Led Z
Bang a Gong-T. Rex

Road/trail tunes for flogging it.
Taking it easy- Doc Watson

For Zombie/Zen outs while focused on a project I like Enigma tunes
especially CD #2. Introspective stuff.

These are all good ideas!

Marshall- I've been listening to Filter since they premiered in the 90's, I was living in Cabbage Town, riding my inline skates thru edgewood/auburn avenue near grady hospital (where some people go and get shot) in the real down town atlanta... livin on the edge so to speak....I just have a hard time listening to them while camping, now while beating some hot metal,,or welding.. they are a great idea.......

I like to listen to different music depending on the task at hand.. Alan Parker & John Cameron's Afro Rock or john denver and earthy, less angst ridden music when I am trying to relax-camping, driving on the trails, or a "miscellaneous" cruiser work day... maybe walking the dogs (sometimes anger music is good for a run with the dogs-then metallica is a great choice).

I also rather enjoy finding little known bands that you have to search out, but are fabulous,, similar to my restaurant. :grinpimp:

Please keep up the recommendations!

by the way whats an "album" ? :hillbilly:

It is all about the task and the mood-while on the cruiser

rebuilding carb- mix of Pink Floyd/Led Zepplein

OAR (all their stuff before 2004 rocks)

A.L.O.

Dispatch

Can never go wrong with stone temple pilots

Gorillas

Santigold

Cold war kids

Ben Harper

G-love and the special sauce

Incubus has tunes for any mood

Tool is great for road trips without little ears or any chance you have to zone out a bit

A perfect circle is along the same lines. Maynard Makes any band sound great

I'm addicted to the black keys right now. They have a very unique sound. Hard to put them in a genre

Pretty much I'm either listening to Classic Rock or Bluegrass.

If you're into some bluegrass, check out

Steep Canyon Rangers
Freighthoppers
Chatham County Line

and you can't go wrong with a little

John Hartford
Del McCoury
or any of the classics...

hear ye!! hear ye!!

the avett brothers

they are carolina boys from concord, currently gaining in popularity

While we are on the subject of music, what the HELL has happened to country now. I have been away from the genre for about 5 years, and I return to find Gwyneth Paltrow and Aaron Lewis from Staind singing country. WTF? What's next Smash Mouth is going to release a new country album.

Now you notice I didn't include Darius in this, as he is badass and is a perfect fit for country. Love his melody and South Carolina lyrics,

Jeremy
