Muffler replacement: suggestions?

Went with magnaflow when the exhaust on the 62 was done. Sounds good but I don't like it in this vehicle. Too loud inside on an already noisy truck and it vibrates the s*** out of stuff.
I'd swap for something less throaty in a heartbeat.

That's me, YMMV.

Can any of you point me to the right parts site online for a bosal muffler for my fj60... The only muffler I can find is a 'Walker' and a guy at the Toyota dealership warned me against them saying they are junk.
Or do I have to buy something and have it retro fit?

it you want the truck to be really quite relative to the exhaust then you need to buy one of the stock type exhaust mufflers... or even the Toyota OEM version.

I know that everyone has a different perspective....I've swapped out mufflers on a pickup and a suburban before because of the harmonics in the cab while driving.....kind of a growl or vibration type noise at cruising speed which if you are towing or generally just driving along then it gets very annoying at certain speeds.

I would ask the local muffler shop what they recommend.

Magnaflow and flowmaster are for those who like a more performance type sound... the really quit mufflers are longer and larger, but that's just the way it is I guess.

Seems like summit racing or jegs would carry just about any of the mufflers out there?

The other thing is the muffler placement.....basically in the stock location the muffler is sitting right under the driver/passenger area (drivers side) which is not the best location to avoid noise in the cab.

I have a thrush glass pack where the factory muffler goes, the original turned back to dust from which it came. It's much quieter than I expected, but I do have the monstrous factory cat which must help with the muffling. Sounds like an old farm truck is about the best description for it.

I have a Thrush that I got from Summit Racing about 7 years ago and installed it with an aftermarket cat in a custom bent 2 1/2" install. great deep sound - not too loud. Still good, I just inspected it yesterday because it was leaking - it just needed a header to flange gasket - all fixed.

I also painted the entire exhaust with high heat Krylon and no problems - I am running a 6 into 1 Man-A-Fre header.

Ok... I've done some research but I need some clarification. Flowmaster has an offset universal muffler on on eBay for $60 and up. I've seen that some of you have a 40 series or 50. Is this significant of how many chambers it has and is that what makes it have a certain tone or resonance?
They even have a pretty sweet black diamond plate 44 series which they compare to the 40 for $69. Seems like a sweet deal.... Thoughts?
And in regards to the cat... CT has no more emmision tests for 25 yrs and older so seeing as its not falling off the truck, I'm not bothering to replace it. And the pipes before and just after it are in pretty good shape in comparison to the tail pipe which broke off the muffler and rusted thru the hanger just before the bumper.
