So I'm heading to Mt. Pleasant next week with the family to stay with my brother for a week. Do you guys have any suggestion on what to do? Cheap food? Cheap Drinks? We might go see Outformation on Sunday night at the ?Poor House?

The Pour House. Haven't been there for a while.

Your Place for burgers. Shem Creek across from Sette.
Red's Icehouse for beers on Shem Creek.
Andolini's Pizza. Coleman Blvd.
Red Drum Gastropub. Great food. My fav is the steak frites.
The Wreck of the Richard and Charlene for some kickass seafood. Served on paper plates and a "rustic" atmosphere. When you pull into the parking lot, you'll think you're in the WRONG place. But I'm tellin' ya' it's a local's favorite and a little secret since it's so hard to find.
The Boathouse at Breach Inlet for some good seafood and a great view.

Go to Sullivans Island for the beach instead of Folly unless you surf. I think Folly sucks. Way too many people and traffic for me. More hot college chicks at Folly fer sure. After Sullivans Island beach, hit Poe's Tavern or Off The Hook for food and drinks. Look behind Poe's Tavern for Mooker82's 80 or his old red Bronco. Sweet ride.

Tourist stuff? I guess you could hit the Yorktown aircraft carrier if you're into that.

The Outformation show should be good, always is. I am catching them next week here in CLT.

If you're still there on Monday, you should head over to the Windjammer on the Isle of Palms and catch Robert Earl Keen. If you've never seen one of his shows, it's worth checking out. I am hitting the show here on Saturday night.

I have seen Keen....I might have to do that. I've got to pick and choose my nights out because I've got that 2 kid problem :)

Thanks for the info, I need a vacation.

Didn't know about the "2 kid problem.":flipoff2:
Definitely hit the Yorktown. Depending on how old they are, your kids will love it. An old WWII aircraft carrier and WWII submarine are spectacular sights to behold when you're young. I've been maybe 3 times. All before the age of 10(I'm 31 now) and I still remember each trip like it was yesterday.

More for the kiddies:
Charles Towne Landing: http://www.charlestowne.org/index.shtml ....landed in 1670. If that ain't history, I don't know what is. It's aimed towards children.
Charleston Kid's Museum next to the Visitor's Center http://www.explorecml.org/
Charleston Museum http://www.charlestonmuseum.org/topic.asp?id=1
Charleston Aquarium http://www.scaquarium.org/
The IMAX theater is right next to the Aquarium.

The Battery, Ft. Moultrie, or Ft. Sumter...birth of the Northern War of Aggression.:flipoff2:

Carriage tour...if you really want to.:flipoff2:
Walking tour if you're in the mood. Some of the ghost tours are neat.

The Palmetto tree on our state flag derives from the Revolutionary War...Ft. Sullivan(Sullivans Island) was constructed of Palmetto trees and when the cannonballs hit the fort, they'd bounce off. Hence the Palmetto tree.
The Crescent "moon" derives from the hats that our defending Army was wearing during the first invasion. The Cresent "moon" shape was embroidered on each hat. From what I've heard, it was a derogatory insult towards the british army. The Crescent "moon" looks iike the armor that british officers wore around their necks and the SC soldiers were mocking them by wearing the same shape on their hats...........................

I could go on...and on......and on...............:D i love SC

The blue SC state flag was the battle flag of the Citadel cadets. They are the ones that fired on the filthy northern oppressors which started the wawah. Same flag but it was red.
The sub at the Yorktown is cool. As are the WWII airplanes on the hanger deck of the carrier. That was a nice surprise for me.
Ft Moultrie is cheap and pretty cool, espec. for kids.
Crabbing in the Cooper or Shem Creek.
The new bridge is a work of art.
Take 'em out on a 'head boat'? Let 'em pull up some snappers or something from the Gulf Stream.

Just some comments for a hillbilly of things that worked when my kids were that age.

Crabbing in the Cooper or Shem Creek.

x 10000000000000. Probably the best / most entertaining / cheapest way to kill a morning or afternoon and make memories that last forever away from the hustle and bustle. Some of my best memories of my youth anyway...

I especially remember when I thought I had the biggest crab alive and it was just a hungry little gator at the end of my twine, under the murky, tannin water chomping on that chicken neck.

If you're still there on Monday, you should head over to the Windjammer on the Isle of Palms and catch Robert Earl Keen. I

Holy crap, the Windjammer still exists! Jeez, it's been there a loooong time.

Is the Joker Lounge still around? I'll never forget "April Love". :D :D :D

Just across the bridge in downtown is some of the finest eating in the US (if not the world). Don't miss your opportunity!

Thanks for all trhe suggestions! I'll print this thread off and take it with me. The kids are almost 3 and 10 months and my brother has a pair the same age. He's lived down there for a few years now.

I got back yesterday....With a total of 4 kids between naps, bottles and feeding the rugrats we didn't get much done.
We went to the beach
tried to eat at Poes, but with 13 of us that wasn't going to happen
went to the pool(my brother lives in Dunes West)
I got one round of golf in (chipped in for 2 birdies)
went downtown strolled around the art thingy going on and ate at jim and nicks?
Ate at RBs, NYPD, mama fus, jacks cosmic dogs, and a few other places
pretty much we laid low and drank beer and margaritas during the day.
