Well, I've fully committed to a 5.3L Vortec conversion. I'm not a 2f purist by any stretch and I certainly don't believe that that engine is what makes a Cruiser a Cruiser.
In my case, I now need to pass emissions, something that was proving to be very difficult to do on my truck. I also have a 9 month old son that I'd like to put in the Cruiser, but reliability is an issue with the wife. I love DD my rig, but in Austin traffic and my commute specifically, the 2f was not cutting it in performance or mpg.
So, after much number crunching and soul-searching, I decided to go for a conversion. I couldn't find anybody in my area that does these, and I was contacted by our very own iaintscared1969 saying that if I could get it to Irving, he'd take on my project. So.....long story short, the rig's up there as of this weekend, There's a 5.3L Vortec from a 2002 Tahoe, AA headers, Downey stuff, and a new H55 waiting to go in, and I'm damn excited! This is a project I would never have time to do myself, nor do I have the know-how. So keep an eye on this thread as the build progresses!
