I searched but did not find any reports of MPG from those running 35" tires. I know there is not a lot of you with that much tire.

So if you could please post up what your seeing in the real world. Please post if you re-geared or not & AT/MT tires? When I make my change over from my 80 to a 200 I'm pretty much planning going straight to 35"s and 4.3 gears. I don't have high expectations of course but would like to know if its going to be any better than my current fuel consumption.

There's three things in life I try hard not to look at....medusa, my wifes spending habits and my MPG's on 35's.

I average around 14-16 - for real. I could probably do better but I don't try.

Don't tell my wife:

That being said, with stock gearing, arb tire carrier and spare, I am lucky to see 11 MPG in the city. That's with 35x12.5x17 Nitto Trail Grapplers

On the highway, its closer to 14-16 MPG

I can only imagine what having a roof rack, snorkel, arb front bumper, winch, Aux tank, and LEDs will do (all of which are planned for the future)

I will HAVE to upgrade to Nitro gears in the future.

P.S. Dear Just Differentials, if you are reading this, I'd love to be a tester for you! :)

@Willy beamin - stock gears? At or Mt and is that mixed driving or HWY?

I'm not too worried about what a front bumper will do. I honestly did not see any change when I added that to my 80. The lift was the biggest killer. Sending the air under rather than over.

11 in the city is worse than my 80 series FYI.

Yes, it's worse, but think about how much more weight I am carrying and think about how much more HP this V8 is making over the 80's in-line 6.

Unless your sig line is not up to date I doubt your heavier than me. Last time across the scale I was at 6800+ unloaded. (me in it). Yes your making way more power but should be more efficiently with 2 more gears in the trans.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for good MPG. Nor will I be driving it daily. I'm just hoping for 10-15% better than what I currently get which is 12.5 city and 13-14 HWY, 7-8 towing. Most of all I no longer want to hold up traffic towing the camper.

Sorry I wasn't very clear.
Trail grapplers -MT's
Mixed driving. I'm mostly interstate with the weekly runs to the grocery.

I run 80-85 mph on the interstate all day everyday.
Stock gears - they feel fine power wise as is.

Hard to cough up $3000 - $4000 for gears and lockers with no real data (that I've found) on what my yield (mpg) would be with adding gears.

It's badass so that's worth a few tanks of gas a month.

@Corbet, I am referring to a stock 80 vs. stock 200.

Wow! What extra equipment did you have on your 80 to make it so heavy?

Stock an 80 series is 4760#'s and a 200 series is 5875#'s. The 80 series has a payload of 1620#'s so you were likely a couple hundred pounds over max weight.

I know and its all in my sig line. It does not take much for it all to add up fast.

Its not that uncommon for an armored and loaded 80 to exceed 7000lbs. I try to stay under 10,000 with the trailer. The 80 has a 5000lb tow rating so that kind of puts me at the gross towing weight. But these are all reasons I want to move into a 200.

We've been running around in our 09 with 4.30s and 33.1" tires for a short time. I'll keep track of fill ups and distances for you and report back. The 4.30s/33" are a nice change from the stock 3.90/33" combo... nice on road and very noticeable in low range.
