Hey there,

Anybody know a good local mechanic that's familiar with FJ40's, or someone who'd be willing to work on a cruiser every once in a while?

I'm moving to Mesa from Spokane, WA next week to begin my first year of dental school, and it'd be sweet if I could find a solid mechanic in the area. I have a daily driver '76 FJ40 with a 2F engine.

Thanx!

...one more thing...

...I might also need a place to store my top if anyone has some extra property around their house or shop. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing the Phoenix valley might be a little hot during the summer to keep the top on.

cheers,

josh

Welcome to Mesa, Josh.

Don't know about a good mechanic, but a bunch of the club members do their own work, so you can probably find help when needed?

Did anyone tell you it's HOT here in the summer, and spring, and fall!:D I have put a bunch of miles on a non A/C FJ40, top off and bikini top on is the way to go, pretty much year around.

Welcome Josh,
I am currently up in your neck of the woods....in Olympia on the Elma backwoods off road ralley. I have a 40 as well and would love to offer my limited experiece if you need a hand keeping it on the road. I live in Chandler, which is about 25 minutes from Mesa (depending on where in Mesa you are moving)
Talk to you when you get into town....
Josh

thanks for the advice

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll roll with the bikini top and learn to appreciate the heat as part of the cruiser experience...just like less-than-modern steering which I've grown to love.

Josh (FJ40LVR), thanks for offer. I'll be living near the intersection of Baseline and Power, about 5-10 minutes NE of Chandler. The cruiser runs great now, but I'd like to learn more about it mechanically and see if there's any work I should look into doing on it. Maybe I could bring a couple beers over one of these weekends and we can dig around a little.

'hope the off road rally in Olympia was a good time. The picture of your cruiser next to your ID looks pretty hardcore.

I'll try to make the next copper state cruisers get together in the Phoenix area as well.
