THere are cruisers in the area. Take a look at Henderson County, Hendersonville too. The tax base is cheaper than Asheville, Buncomb County. I lived in Hendersonville for 5 years, 45 minutes south of there now in SC, even cheaper here.

There are quite a few cruisers up there. I believe most of them post on UC. That's a part of the state ONSC have never really got a foot hold. You can be our first Asheville member.

Congrats on the move and the job

we landed in the small town of Marshall. ill be working from home and on the road mostly, Jenni will be driving 20 minutes into work in downtown asheville. We did not want to live in hendersonville or asheville. We really wanted to take the advantage of being in the mountains to live outside the major metro areas and have a short drive to the city.

That's alright that you don't have a garage. You're 50 minutes closer to Gastonia than before, which is good, and with two incomes, you should be able to save up for a house pretty quickly.

I'd say pay rent, keep using your garage in Gastonia and put all extra money into savings for a down payment on a house!

Hey FJ I am in Ashevegas. Not many from MUD here as far as I know but I am new to MUD. There are a few 60's here and one FJ62 downtown but that is about all I have seen.

Like Al said Asheville has historically been UC turf, not that there's not a lot of overlap. We've had several prezzies and osifers around there. The GVL SC and Asheville axis south to Laurens and through north Georgia is mostly UC, I mean to say Upstate Cruisers. ONSC where we are now is more the URE/Triangle axis to the coast plus back west as far as we can get people to come. We used to do a North/South combo at URE which is where I got involved with these nuts. That event has become Logan's Run because the UC cousins have been pretty quiet the past several years (since the sad closing of Cullowhee) but this year Marshall Trollhole is back at the helm IIRC so keep and eye on the UC page as well as here.
I believe I met you at Mt Mitchell a few years ago . . . hardtop 40 from Cape Fear or the OBX? That Parkway run is a long-standing UC event which also includes some camping back over towards Black Balsam on Fri night, then maybe on east of Mitchell on Sat night for the hardy few that like that stuff.
Anyway keep tabs on both and if I hear of anything smaller I'll ping you.

I also live in UC territory but have not been out to any events with the club yet. I got involved with ONSC through Jerry and a couple wheeling trips to Harlan. I have been involved clubs over the years and served a couple terms as Pres of a RC flying club.

ONSC is by far the most active and friendly club I have been around. Great bunch of folks with many common interests that like to get out and play with their toys. I hope to get more involved within the next couple years. Once we get the bulk done here on the farm we will have more time.

To the OP, you are right up the road from us. We can be in downtown Hendersonville in 45 minutes or so. If you ever need any help or anything, hollar.

Stan

A little late, but another Asheville chime-in. UZJ100/FJ80. The 80 now belongs to our daughter, and is her first vehicle. Motoring is a family hobby for us, whether its Toyota sports cars or Toyota 4x4. We enjoy both!
