Dig this heavy duty motorcycle carrier I landed to transport the kids new Christmas present. I've had a hitch rack for the bicycles for a long time so it dawned on me to try one out for the dirtbike. It is surprisingly sturdy and will hold us over until a second bike is secured; for me of course;)

Good deal. Ill be loading my kids bikes ( a 50 and 60) on a HD cargo rack tomorrow. on my '94.

Go Honda!

I ghetto rigged a honda xr 350 onto a hitch haul for a 300+ mile trip last year, what you've done is slightly more classy, I was wishing for some better springs.

I use the same type of carrier, just had to extend it so my bike clears the swingout.

I've been looking at a few different kinds of these motorcycle racks to haul a KLR650 on the back of my Chevy Avalanche. The truck has air bags in the back & hauls a 5000 ski boat without any issues.... I don't know the exact tongue weight of that trailer but I'm pretty sure it's more than 300 or 400 lbs. The bike is a bit over 400 lbs. plus the rack itself.

So after looking at numerous racks, I found one that goes in the receiver, then ties into the truck frame on either side with a turnbuckle. I figured this would be way sturdier than a receiver lock any day. But after loading the bike on the rack, I am finding the rack torques way too much for me to be comfortable hauling it at freeway speeds or over any kind of bumps.

I'm looking at the best way to reinforce it now. The torque seems to be because of how wide the front tie downs are spaced & the top heavy bike.
