I've documented my 98 "street cruiser" it was a 1 minute decision purchased sight unseen off ebay... it was listed 19 minutes before I purchased it with a "buy it now price I could not refuse" I read the ad looked at the 4 pictures and hit the "buy it now button".... I knew it needed an engine and ad said it had sat for a year, BUT it had new leather and it was a Texas Truck Black with tan leather.... AD Pictures were taken as to NOT show the right side side swipe... ad said 325k miles but was only 305K ..... anyway I did the body work while waiting on the ebay purchased engine to arrive... painted it (Left side only) with ebay purchased paint... and replaced a few time worn parts and base line stuff... truck was meant to be a.... haul the dogs to the lake... launch the boat... don't care if it gets dinged up truck... but turns out I LIKE DRIVING IT and it turned out NICE and looks pretty good... EVERYTHING works but the sunroof (seized cables & stripped gears) and the oil pressure gauge (drives me NUTS) I'd rather have the gauge working than the sunroof...

It drives really well... we take it over the wifes LX470 about every time we head out the door (mine is cleaner and always full of gas (another story)

OK that is the back story... but what have you done that continues to please you... that you think... that was worth doing.....

BUT what makes me smile just about every time I drive it.... I sh---t you not.... I really like my blue LED lights in my dash,
gps1.webp
less than $10 and I really like my $150 double din Touch screen nav stereo unit... that alone makes it seem like a much newer truck... I guess since I took care of all the things that would make it drive well before I ever drove it... I'm not distracted by things I need to fix...
but weird to me that something as simple as blue dash lights please me every time I see them...

Rebooting both front axles, new rotors and pads all around. It took my whole weekend but it was so worth it to stop slinging grease and save a ton of dough.

Monstaline

Second is ball joints and power steering rack

Doing baseline PM work (fluids, brakes, hoses, filters, etc), deep cleaning leather and carpet, and installing USB plugs:

Dual USB socket install

Installing lift, sliders, tires, drawers, rack, etc is satisfying, but having a well maintained, reliable and clean truck is especially satisfying.

Bluetooth head unit. Love being able to just get in the truck with phone in pocket and music picks right up where it left off.

Sat in it for the first time. I bought it from out of state without ever having even sat in a 100. Boy, was (is) that nice!

How easy was the install of the head unit?
I just did a double din Pioneer in my 02 4Runner and it was quite easy. Can't believe people actually pay someone to do this for them.

Do you need an adapter for the power antenna? the 4Runner does, which I forgot, so its permanently in the down position. Yet I still get reception 90% of the time.

It was very easy... the most time consuming part was the opening in the LC was a tad small and had rounded corners... the new double din head unit was square... so I went slow with a bastard file to open it up less than 1/16 all the way around... my cheap china head unit (which I really like for $150 delivered) had a connection for a power antenna and auto lifts and retracts with the power to the unit... It came with a back up camera which I have Not installed... not counting the file fitting it was a real 30min job...

Took it off road and smashed up the running boards...provided a great reason to mount up sliders.

Wake up on top of it - Run a moderately hard trail - Drive home at 80mph in comfort with the AC on.

That is the #1 thing I do to mine that can always put a smile on my face. It's the variety of things it can do it one day well that gets at me.

After installing or fixing; Throttle body, Timing Belt, Steering Rack, Radiator, Front Diff, Re-boots, Fluid Changes, Every Suspension Link and Arm, Starter, Brakes, etc etc etc I get less and less excited about each PM/repair. It's using it all as a travel system that does it for me these days.

Bought it!

any photos of your 100 as it stands today?

Have Slee rip out my dysfunctional AHC and install the 1.5" OME lift kit with SPC UCAs and diff drop Made it a different vehicle. Of course they did a great job. Love my new BIOR sliders too, Mike is awesome as well.

285 BFG AT KO2's on her right after I bought it!!

Installed locking hubs and converted the transfer case to part time in August. Just finished up replacing the timing belt and water pump ... and everything works like it 'sposed to.

How did u convert the transfer case ? Separate write up coming ?

Replaced the leather on the steering wheel - I wish I had done it long before!

My land cruiser drove amazing pre-lift and addition of 10 ply ATs. Seriously, having driven 3/4 and 1 ton diesel pick ups for a few years prior, the land cruiser felt like a sports car in the turns. I remember reading a post from someone saying your land cruiser would never drive as good as it does in pre-lift condition. Were they ever right! During the 2014 HIH event, I was fortunate enough to win a $500 ICON gift certificate in a raffle. I had been looking at the ICON stage 2 shocks and figured my wife would never go for it ($$$). However, with winning the raffle ticket, that seemed to be enough to get approval and an actual bump up to Stage 3. Not quite back to pre-lift ride, but pretty darn close. So far, the ICONs are definitely my favorite mod....
