This is a Toyota Land Cruiser that I have painstakingly converted into an Overlander. What is an Overlander? If you're old, it's a vehicle that you spend way too much money and time on so that you can threaten to take the kids camping at a moment's notice (especially right after they ask to go to Disney World or on a ski trip to Colorado for spring break because that's where all their friends are going). If you're young, it's a remote work office. During the thick of the pandemic, when it was harder to get a campground reservation than a Taylor Swift ticket, I was taking my family of 4 into the backcountry—sleeping in our luxurious roof-top tent (Thule Tepui Explorer Autana with upgraded Tepui Siesta Luxury Mattress 4) and cooking gourmet meals from the tailgate. What an awful color (I had it painted Baffin Blue in 2022). What terrible gas mileage (probably 15 MPG or less?). So much totally unnecessary gear. And yet ... I've never loved a vehicle so much. Alas, I'm moving to a place where I can't park it. Why so expensive, you ask? First of all, it's bad ass. Second, it has less than 70,000 miles (pretty good for a 2013). Third, I have taken meticulous care of this land yacht (sometimes I get the oil changed just because it feels good). But the big reason is that it has over $20,000 in carefully selected top-of-the-line, after-market gear. There is a TruckVault drawer system in the back that holds more gear than a welding truck ($2,725). ARB roof rack and fit kit ($1,479). That 4-person Thule tent wasn't cheap ($3,955.98) and the upgraded mattress (memory foam) was worth every penny ($549.95). There is an awning (Thule OverCast, $379.95) that attaches from the roof rack for days when you want some extra shade. WeatherTech Seat Protectors and FloorLiner ($599.75). ARB front bumper ($2,323) with top-of-the-line Warn Wench ($850) and upgraded Solis Lights ($530, so bright they should be illegal), ARB LED fog lights in an ARB fog harness ($204) and upgraded LED headlights ($125). New paint job in 2022 (aforementioned Baffin Blue which was the factory color of my dad's Ford truck when I was born in 1973 and I had to have that color in my life again)—it's a real conversation starter. There is an inverter in the back so you can plug sh*t in. And the inverter powers TTP Plugs for the TruckVault. I got new tires the day after Thanksgiving 2021 after bumping into a hundred-year-old rock wall at Caddo Lake State Park (love that park ... damage to the wall was minimal ... all damage to my Land Cruiser was cosmetic and fully repaired and upgraded ... kids and wife still making fun of me for hitting the wall ... no, I wasn't drinking). Got a new alternator in 2023. As for the factory stuff? I bought this vehicle brand new from the Toyota dealership in 2013 (it was white when I bought it) and ordered it fully loaded. Did you know that Toyota discontinued Land Cruisers in the U.S. after 2021? What a shame. Anyway ... V8 (5.7 Liter), 4WD (cause ... duh), hill ascent and descent control with traction and stability control (crucial for overlanding), JBL premium sound system (crucial for overlanding), navigation system that you'll completely ignore (but it's cool in the way that VCRs and CDs are cool), speaking of which ... CD/MP3 player (also to be ignored ... though there may be some CDs in there that I inserted in 2013 and never took out), bluetooth, anti-theft system, keyless start, cooled and heated seats (makes funny noises when you turn on the heater to remind you that you're not built for the outdoors if you need heated seats), heated steering wheel (I actually love the heated steering wheel), power seats, leather everything, refrigerated console (don't drink and drive), backup camera, an embarrassment of airbags, premium wheels, moon roof (so you can look up at the tent and roof rack and enjoy your obstructed view of the stars), running boards ... yada, yada, yada. I basically got every factory feature available and then added on the stuff they didn't offer. I watched hundreds of hours of YouTube videos to get this Land Cruiser just right for overlanding (mostly Australian dudes who looked far more capable than me at pretty much everything). Look—obviously I don't want to sell this machine. So here's what you can expect if you want to kick the tires. I will be grumpy and emotional. I will not negotiate. Not only will I not go down on price, but I will increase the price by $5,000 if you ask me in any direct or indirect way if I will go down on price. I will demonstrate the roof-top tent and other features of the vehicle, but only for serious buyers. And I will NOT train you on how to use anything. YouTube. YouTube. YouTube. You can test drive the vehicle if you leave a child with me (one of your children ... not someone else's). If you don't want to leave a child with me, you can leave a valid Texas driver's license. You must pay with a cashier's check or wire transfer, and you can't take the vehicle until the cash is in my bank account. I will also accept crypto (BTC or ETH only) for a 10% premium—and, no, I don't want to talk crypto with you. Don't ask me what's in my bag. Don't ask me about FTX or Terra. So, yeah. If you're willing to put up with all that, you probably deserve a machine like this. I promise you there's not another one like it in the world.
