Hi! IF you're willing to share, I thought it might be helpful for the rest of us to better understand what the market prices are for the 200 series (and LX 570 I suppose). I'm personally looking for one, have found a few, and curious what others' purchase prices have been so I can negotiate (or not) properly.

Please share purchase price, year, mileage at purchase, and location (east/west/south, etc...)

Thanks and happy hunting for those also looking.

The auction house estimated values (MMR) are showing a huge $10K split between ~2013 LC and LX right now, no one seems to want older LX (probably due to AHC) so it seems like there are falling prices for those patient enough to wait. Granted we aren’t seeing enough volume to actually drive down retail yet, but predicted trend looking good.

Guys, I am having a hard time with this decision right now... I put a deposit down on this LC based on pics, clean carfax, and very good ebay reviews of the dealership and now I am not feeling good about the (potential) purchase. Can anyone see a reason to not move forward with this:
VIN:

JTMCY7AJ5K4075620

Ebay listing: 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser VX-R Only 27K mi Serviced Loaded Clean CARFAX | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/195521233183

I am in a bit of bind on this one but would rather (possibly) walk away from a deposit then deal with a beat truck for the foreseeable future.

Thanks Scott, I dug in a little deeper and found an older ebay listing by european-cars that stated that the rear of the LC was damaged and repainted; he erased this from the listing that I saw and when asked if there were any known issues he of course denied anything. I sent him a copy of the old listing and told him I wanted a refund, we'll see what happens. I made the purchase with my Platinum Business Amex and will speak with them in the morning.
Funny, I almost posted the listing on here prior to making deposit to get feedback but felt good about the clean carfax and glowing ebay reviews.

You were able to put the whole thing on the card? Sweet! I could only put 5,500 of my LX 570 on one. I don't have Amex but I know they have a fantastic reputation for standing up for cardholders if things go sideways - hope you don't need it.

I just checked Cars.com and prices are dropping like panties on prom night out there!

Fortunately I have only put a deposit on it so far.

Prices are definitely dropping quickly.

Hard to know how much of a deal breaker this would be, but definitely seems a bit suspicious on the dealers part. At the end of the day there aren’t that many of these and accidents happen, but I would try and get a cleaner one or discount for the accident. 2019s should have easy clear history. 2008 might have less of a clear history.

TRD garbage glued to a Land Cruiser would have been enough for me to keep scrolling.

Good luck with the deposit. I hope that you get it back.

Yeah, the badging was the first thing to come off, retracting side steps the second.

It's enough to break the deal for me; I don't need to work with a shady dealer. I plan on keeping this vehicle for a long time so as new and clean as possible is important to me.

Hey Taylor. Are you able to see it in person? I picked up a Certified 2016 a few years ago with a Carfax minor incident to the rear. No big deal. It’s just a bumper cover and paint.

I agree with you, though - there’s a trust factor that comes into play here.

Unfortunately I am not able to see it in person as I am in Montana and it is in Pennsylvania. I agree that it may still be fine but given the concerns that have now come to light with the dealer I don't feel comfortable. I will be looking for Certified Pre Owned unless it is close enough to me to inspect.

Just be careful. I almost bought a 2020 certified preowned w 30k miles. Perfect carfax. There had been a non-reported accident. How did I know? Because the dipshits painted the rear bumper flat white instead of the metallic tri coat blizzard. When I brought this to the Toyota dealers attention, they just offered to knock off $500, not fix it.

This seems objectively like a huge arbitrage despite supply / demand imbalance that is obvious.

AHC is battle tested reliable, so unless buyer are uneducated and think it is airbag that is unreliable in other brands, the price difference doesn’t make sense.

LX seats, audio and soundproofing are all worth more dollars vs similar LC.

That said I’m biased bought 2013 LX after looking for similar LC for months.

Oh geez, so basically I need to be able to put my eyes on it.

An $80K purchase via Ebay sounds like a bad idea in general.
Hell try Craigslist if this is where we are at!

LX owners can cope all they want, deep down they know in their hearts they wanted a Land Cruiser.
Some one had to say it, this has gone on for far too long! 🤣

There must be someone around there in PA on Mud. Post a thread in the 200 section .

Haha, yep, that's the one! It still feels a bit insane to go from a '22 to a '14 but every option I miss from my old trucks and from this tacoma the LX has in spades. Going again here in a bit to try and work a deal... What did you notice specifically in the interior? I went there in the pouring rain and had trouble seeing anything.
Did you happen to pick this one up? I was going to check it out this weekend but now it’s not listed?

My wife has joined the cruiser flock! She picked up this 2018 LX for about $65k. Plastic is still on the rear screens and I wouldn’t be surprised if my son is the first person to ride in the back seat. There is a little surface rust on some of the AHC brackets, frame welds and near the front lower ball joints but not enough to be concerned. It’ll get some undercarriage attention soon. Other than 2 scuffs on the exterior, it looks brand new.

She’s wanted one for a while now and needed a nice end of year tax write off.
